Okay I’ll just do it, because every now and then I read about some rule that I wasn’t aware of. If it’s been done before, my apologies.

No political comments in non political threads.
The boss doesn’t want to hear about the donation section of the popular “Face” Pages.
No profanity in Subject titles
Some go without saying: honesty, courtesy etc.

That’s all I’ve got off the top of my head.
List away.

Some guidelines and tips for new members or for those considering registering for the forum

It must mystify most members, why I've never featured official rules (outside of Classifieds) for the forum. I think I may have explained in the past. I'm not going into it right now, but I do recognize that it is not entirely fair to posting members, that I have refrained from doing so.

Yes, but there seems to not be much need for such a policy these days. I think most people understand this is poor form.

Once-upon-a-time the rules were pretty simple: Behave like a reasonably intelligent, civilized adult and you'd almost certainly be good to go the vast majority of the time.

But, since then, there have been a number of forbidden topics, words, phrases, and behaviors added--some of which have been mentioned above and many of which are listed in the cited thread. A recent one, not a rule, per se, is discouraging the use of the term "rabbit hole." One not mentioned above or in the cited thread was ISTR you once told us to stop using "PSA" in thread subjects, because there'd been one PSA after another.

The list of "thou shalt nots" is becoming a bit... lengthy? Kind of hard to keep track of?

Clickbait thread titles (my top personal pet peeve).

"If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

It's not me about which I'm concerned, but newer members that haven't been around for <looks...> over a quarter century?!?!

Heck, most of the stuff to which you've expressed a desire not to see anymore or for which a rule has been created were things I was disinclined to do, anyway.

But how's a newer member to know, for example, to never use the phrase "<blurfl> of peace?"

Where <blurfl> is a place-holder for, well, most of y'all know.

Not a rule, nor officially discouraged by Management, TTBOMK?

But it may get you roundly slammed.

Again, that barely happens at all these days, new member or no. The phrase has become stale and trite in pop culture. Too, the average person online these days exhibits more sophistication than in years past, due to greater experience with social media in its various forms. These things tend to take care of themselves.

The best gauge of these things is the frequency at which they need to be corrected by me. When things get out of hand, I'll wield the whip. Until then, steady as she goes.

The one I like is the slang words.

I forget the one used that got the conversation started, but words like, "yeet", "bet", "extra", "cap", "whip".

Cut it out.

I know I should not be as invested as I am in this topic but when folks abuse the classified area rules. Making an account and posting multiple WTB, or having it listed elsewhere, it really pisses me off.

Again, I understand I should not be that involved or that upset, but man. Stop being a douche, they are easy rules to follow. And the worst part is, I know a lot of the folks doing it KNOW the rules.
