I'll do nested quoting when I feel it necessary for context, but I'm also not shy about eliding what I feel to be excess material within said nested quotes. I very rarely full-quote.

It's not about that. It's about two guys in a prolonged argument who keep quoting each other fully with each response. It's ridiculous. Boss man has reminded folks time and again on this.

Ignored facts still exist
| For a while one of our ex-member's screen name was a keyword that would block a post from posting. Not sure if that's still the case or not. I know there are some other keywords, but I've forgotten what they all are. Oh, and don't threaten an ex-President no matter how much you don't like him. There was a guy banned for that some time ago.

His Royal Hiney
| I like the rule where it's expected you're an adult guest at somebody else's house at a civil gathering. Everything else is mores ("the essential or characteristic customs and conventions of a community."). I think most of the "banned" words are trapped and your post just doesn't get published. It's not like you have to walk on eggshells around here, just be a decent, civil, rational human being. One thing that stands out for me in this forum is I have seen Para apologize more than once over a misunderstanding. I've never seen that with any forum moderator any other place; I think because those moderators think that if they admit to being wrong, that diminishes their authority.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946. |

Beat me to it. But, I see this as more a norm of civilized behavior than a rule. But, there is a corollary to the above, which I believe is a rule: Don't tangle with the owner and then whine "Your house, your rules".
