The Triscuit is one of the greatest inventions of the 20th Century. A damn fine cracker. Less is more.

No good deed goes unpunished |
I love Triscuits dipped in Alouette's smoky jalapeno cheese spread. Another favorite cracker was Better Cheddars, but they were discontinued by Nabisco.

Me too but I'm watching salt these days. The usual half-pound hummus-with-Triscuit snack leaves me flappy jowl'd. That POUND of bruschetta I ate last Sunday added five pounds of water to my tissue; still working it out. Got Cracked Pepper, Cheddar, and Sea Salt in the cabinet right now. Tzatziki, blah. Gouda, thumbs up.

Because of this thread I bought a box of chickin in a biskit. They are pretty damn good. First time I've had them Don't weep for the stupid, or you will be crying all day

This is correct; however, the tensile strength is less than a Wheat Thin when attempting to engage Schuler's Original Cheddar Cheese dip, if the cheese is a lower temperature than X, where X is greater or equal to "room". “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. I picked up a box of CiaB the other day and cracked it open last night. Crackers seems smaller and thinner than I remember. And not as much "powder". Was kinda let down. _______________________________ The artist formerly known as AllenInWV

You obviously need to understand both Triscuit ridge alignment with respect to tensile strength and/or the importance of forefinger support when engaging high viscosity spreads. NRA Life Member - "Fear God and Dreadnaught"

I once had an engineering buddy write out his mathematical formula for demonstrating the forces involved. Long lost to the passing years, IIRC he had symbols involving 'moment arm', stress vector as related to axis rotation of the triscut, tensile strength as related to height above insertion of the triscut into the dip, and those forces related to salivary tongue slickness and how much beer/bladder coefficient was involved. It was magnificent in concept. **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

It sounds magnificent. I, being bereft of such knowledge, have simply resorted to using a less porous cracker to bolster the dipping-without-breaking chances where high viscous flavor enhancement spreads are present. To bring us full-circle: I share Arc's opinion. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Mencken

Take that back!!! Shredded Wheat was a staple in our house when I was a kid. Couple biscuits in a bowl, smother with hot water, then drain, add milk & sugar, then enjoy. Triscuits are OK, wife loves them more than me. I like saltines, Cheeze-its and oyster crackers in my soup and clam chowder! The new Cheeze-its hot and spicy cracker are mighty tasty as far as I am concerned.....not for folks that don't do spicy.

LOL its true, ever grow up with a certain feeling towards certain foods. Triscuits and Werthers Originals were and still are old people food. Cause that's the only people I ever saw eat them. Potted meat and Spam were poor people food, cause we ate the hell out of it being poor. Though Spam nowdays is considered good eating in certain regions and the price reflects it, it always sticks with me as slumming it when we eat it. Young cool kids eat Wheat thins or Chicken in a Biscuit. Club crackers even. But Triscuits??? 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

in addition to the sterling qualities listed previously, some of us favor triscuts for their enhancement of bowel motility {geezer warning OFF} **************~~~~~~~~~~ "I've been on this rock too long to bother with these liars any more." ~SIGforum advisor~ "When the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change, then change will come."~~sigmonkey

Triscuits are the best! My go to lunch, just add sharp cheddar cheese and some salami. I guess I'm making a trip to the store today!

^^^^^^^^ Interesting – I’d never heard of them. Here’s a Wikipedia article: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cream_cracker The article says that they’re Irish rather than American. Kroger is said to have them. I’ll look on my shopping trip today. I’m on a crackers quest! Serious about crackers
