Write ins are fine but in a state wide race, not numerically really an option.

Our election dates are set in statute. The parties don't pick them, the legislature set the dates to 3 in a non presidential year. May, August and Novenmber

Thanks. What I was thinking about there in particular is whether the state GOP wasn't in a position to dictate how candidates would be chosen to be put on the ballot, as long as they did so in plenty of time for the names to get on the ballot before the election.
