That seems...."harsh". LOL! As to the "simplest explanation". Actually, when you consider the problems caused by our lack of understanding of the Big Bang, the "simplest" explanation seems to be that God said "Let there be light." We already have a name for phenomena that are beyond all scientific explanation and seem to defy logic and all the currently-known laws of physics: "Miracles". "Crom is strong! I have a friend who believes the same as Hawking does here, there is nothing after this life, we become fertilizer. I once told him if he was right, he could never brag about it after he died.
