I’m one of the few at work that doesn’t pound Red Bull/Monster/etc and I haven’t had a sip of any soft drink since September after kidney stones dropped me like a bad habit. Seems the crash after that crap is worse than being a bit lethargic to begin with.

I love my morning coffee, no sugar, sweetener, creamer or anything else. Just black. It is one of life's simple pleasures.

My only caffeine is black coffee, typically home roasted and I will fight anyone for it.

Funny, I was just the opposite.

I could not stand the taste or smell of coffee, even up till I was 18 and a senior in HS. If I was tired and had to head to my after school job, I would fill up a glass halfway with coffee and then top it off with milk and then chug it down but I hated the taste.

After I joined the Army after graduation and had to be on duty at 0330 as a cook, that’s when I realized coffee was my friend. Been that way for 30+ years now

I am down to 25 % of the amount of kidney that people my age have.
High blood pressure killed one kidney and the half of kidney that is working ,
Well it's at 40%-46% functional.

I've been off caffeine anything for 8 years now.

Finally found A doctor that clued me in.

There's also a lot of Yerba Maté tea this and energy drink that. It's a nice alternative to coffee and actually there's more caffeine than a dark or espresso roast when consumed the traditional way.

As far as redbull and monster energy etc, I don’t like it at all. Some guys at work are pounding down six or more cans during a shift.

I have few vices.

I drink an Orange Dreamsickle Reign every morning. I order them by the case. Nobody wants me to run out. Trust me.

300mg of caffeine. No sugar. I’m sure I’ll die from something else first. Per amazon, I’m well over 60 cases total.

I’d say I’m addicted.

I have sleep apnea. I fought it for years. Couldn’t imagine wearing a C-pap. After work one day we were headed to the airport, 2-1/2 hours away, and I was fighting staying awake.
I stopped at a mini mart, and grabbed a Snickers and a 5 hour energy drink. I chugged the drink, my first ever, while pounding the candy bar.
My wife read the directions, and said I should only drink 1/2 at a time, and stay away from sugar.
I was like the goats eating beans!
I smartened up (by the way) have been wearing a C-pap 8 years ish. I can get by with 4-5 hours of sleep on occasion and survive the day without that feeling of exhaustion.
Now, no energy drinks, but two small cups of coffee and usually a 30 oz of iced coffee to replace breakfast and lunch.

I haven't had caffeine of any kind, including chocolate, in over a year. I'm sleeping better and have lost 25 lbs. I find that water works just fine now. I'm convinced we are all addicted to caffeine to one extent or another.

Same. I love the taste of high quality coffee, and a slow, leisurely start to the day with a hot cup of coffee (especially on a chilly morning) is definitely one of my favorite "simple pleasures".

I drink 16-32 ounces of coffee in the morning. Black, or with a small splash of 2% milk, if available.

On occasion I'll drink another 8-16 ounces of coffee in the early afternoon, on days when I'm extra tired. No caffeine after ~3 pm, unless for some reason I'm having to stay up late that day. Once I hit about 30 years old, drinking caffeine in the later afternoon or evening started to mess with my ability to fall asleep at bedtime, whereas that hadn't been an issue when I was younger.

I don't drink soda or energy drinks. Those are packed with chemicals and sugar anyway, so it's not necessarily the caffeine that's the main problem with those.

My caffeine source is Diet Coke, and I drink several a day. Chocolate has theobromine, a similar item to caffeine, and I do eat some of it.

When in rehab for the broken arm I went days without either cola or chocolate and did not suffer any notable withdrawal effects.

Back to the coffee "drinks" loaded with sugar...

Kids are drinking this stuff by the GALLONS on a daily basis. I'm SURE there are tweeners and young teens, i.e., 12-14 year olds, that hit up the convenience store for an ice cold Starbucks bottled Vanilla Frappacino thinking it's a nothing drink. Maybe they think it's "trendy" and their friends will think they're cool. Dunno.

Per 13.7 fl. oz. bottle, these things have up to 115mg of caffeine and 45g of sugar, depending on flavor. It would be NOTHING for a young kid/teen to slam 2 or 3 of these a day. I'm sure the addictive effect on their young systems would render them helpless against the cravings.

And now we're pondering, on a SIGforum post, why caffeine is the new booze or tobacco...

The cause - SH*TTY PARENTING

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

I'm in this camp. One cup, maybe two, and not every day. Maybe 4 days a week, generally speaking. Black, no sugar, no cream, no milk. I used to add stuff, but I got lazy, and then I started liking it better au naturel.

Used to drink the energy drinks, but one day, I decided they taste like cancer.

Til I made chief I didn’t drink coffee, only energy drinks and soda. I hated the taste. During season that changed. Later I had major withdrawal headaches while recovering from an appendectomy. Seemed crazy that morphine didn’t help that headache. But it went away after a few days.

Now I’ll cold turkey caffeine for weeks til I have a couple rough days and have some. Then i’ll drink a 28oz cup with a lil milk, stevia and cinnamon every morning for a few weeks. When I get back to the point of headaches if I sleep in on a Saturday I stop again for a while. Not too regular. That’s the only reason I didn’t buy a moccamaster on prime day. My el cheap o Amazon basics pot makes enough to fil my cup.

I like my two cups (black) in the morning... but I do find it ironic that we have these 'drug' stores on just about every corner... Starbucks.
