On a break from court, myself and another attorney who I have been friends with for fifteen or more years and is of our ilk, conservative and believe in the original intent of the Constitution, went for coffee at this small, non chain coffee shop near the courthouse. The twenty something barista who was making the coffees chatted up my colleague about our occupation and where he had gone to college. The barista screamed “woke” and she was very “West Village” and “Cambridgey” in appearance. Now my colleague will engage with anyone, however his answers, are always eyebrow raising and challenges one to keep a straight face while he responds. One distinct response to a question concerning if he wanted cheese on his cheeseburger, was “No, I’m allergic to cheese and it makes my teeth itchy.” Today when this young lady asked where he did his undergraduate work, he replied “Harvard” which wasn’t even remotely close to true, and for his major; “Fifteenth Century Romanian, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The Barista, young and cute, I thought was ready to offer to bear his offspring. She was beaming ear to ear, and told him how fascinated she was that he study the history of something so important in today’s world. She looked at him like he invented the wheel. I was so stunned, by her lack of history, common sense and ability to realize she’s being played with. The entire time we had coffee she made talk with my friend that was blatantly like hitting on him and gave him her phone number, despite an obvious twenty year age difference. Walking back to court I just kept shaking my head. Still can’t figure out if it was his response, her reaction or she didn’t know in Romania in the fifteenth century a guy named Vlad the Impaler was kind of in charge of inclusion. Good laugh for the day.

Sounds like with just a tad more effort he could have gotten a 'hummer' in the men's room. Likely one of the few uses this barista was good for.

Even the “woke” like dudes with money. Your friend is an attorney. He’s got money.

Dude, she was flirting with you, showing how she can be nice, even to a lying attorney… go back and hit her up for a date!

There really is a thing with chicks & $$. Maybe things won’t last, but the ride can be nice.

That can bring is to the B.S’ing guy, not your friend. You know, the guy who stretches things to gain favor with the ladies. It’s gonna cost one way or another, accept it.

My uncle used to quip that he was "just to the right of Genghis Kahn" politically in similar conversations.
I've considered stealing it and using it but 99% of our current population wouldn't get it at all.

Gold diggers are gold diggers no matter what ideology they subscribe to. Whether it’s husband hunting or just having a good time on somebody else’s dime, they are basically the same. I wouldn’t look down on your friend if he went and had a good time with the vapid slattern (with protection of course) and moved on when appropriate.

I remember girls like that. Pretty but REALLY stupid. As you get older the ability to take a coherent message and have an intelligent conversation becomes more important.

The only reason why a twenty-something chick would dig (original) Old Spice aftershave would be because it reminded them of their beloved grandfather. Big Grin

^^^ Not the type you marry... but... entertaining? YES

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I knew a guy in Germany who was doing a PG year abroad and had gone to Harvard. His senior thesis was on the use of passive verbs in 16th century Swedish Bible translations. Not joking.

One usually thinks that a thesis would span more than one page.... And hopefully something interesting for the thesis reviewer to read.
