I bought two for a customer that wanted blue tooth in a couple of vans. Very highly rated

My "04" Buick and my buddy's "06" Chevy pick
are not equipped with blue tooth.

Do these provide blue tooth?.

With all the knobs ,dials and buttons
are these considered "hands free" ?

May as well add CarPlay or Android Auto. Connects to the car via FM, Bluetooth, or Aux port.
Not only gives you hands free calling, you get GPS, and all the other app options.

My older Honda has an AUX port in the console. I use a Bluetooth to AUX converter (less than $20) and it works great for calls and music. I mounted a wireless charging adapter on high on the dash so the microphones on my phone work for calls. The high mount allows me to use Waze for GPS. I am an Android guy and use voice commands for hands free.

I have been using Proclip mounts for years.

I've been using a simple plug in to the good old cigarette lighter that has dual usb ports and tunes into an FM signal on my radio.

Turn on my phone bluetooth when I want to connect (I mostly leave my bluetooth on). Plug in a usb to charge when I want. Stream music, answer calls, use Navigation from my phone. Super simple and small.

Does either car have a screen?

If not as said, you will need an FM adapter.

Are they compatible with apple/android play?

If the cars are 2017 or newer, for lots of car brands all you need is a charging cable.

If you want to go wireless, just get in the car and go, I use the CARLINK brand.

The new CARLINK adapter high end is most likely not legal in some states.

It can mirror the whole phone as in watch a movie while driving.

This is what we did with our daughters CX5, had a new touch screen head unit put in that has BT and Car Play. Looks factory

went through this with my 03 F150, no BT, Went to Crutchfield and did the research, they will show you all the options for a new head unit, the correct harness to install it without splicing, some even have a backup camera with them, all around $200 to $300.

You'll get apple car play, BT, handsfree phone if you are handy it's an easy install and updates the vehicles nicely.

There are any number of flat screen add-ons for cars that will interface with your phone via Car Play or Android Auto, and use the car's installed audio equipment. Some of these take the form of detachable flat screens, some are permanently mounted into a double DIN recess. Many of them have added functionality like a backup camera, etc. None will cure poor audio gear already in the car, upgrading speakers/amps/subwoofers will likely be much more expensive than phone integration, but if you already have a decent sound system, you can get away pretty inexpensively with something like this.

Any of these types of solutions will allow hands-free calling, whether or not that passs muster with your State, i less certain.

Of course, there is also the option of ear buds with an integrated microphone, and Alexa/Siri to do the dialing for you.
