Yea, that is the point I was trying to make. It was a glorified high altitude amusement park ride.

I think because apogee was only 65 miles, and to compare, the shuttle went to like 250 miles and was going pretty fast when it hit the atmosphere.

not 100% certain, but I think that's the answer. SOmeone correct me if that's not right.

To get charring, you need friction.

Orbit insertion and de-orbit occur in the 17,000 MPH range.

Going up and back down in a parabolic arc of only 65 miles, does not provide enough velocity to achieve significant aerodynamic heating.

As someone else mentioned, it's an expensive E ticket ride.

A parabolic flight path will result in "weightlessness" during the descent even if you are not in space. That's how real astronauts train for space walks - inside cargo planes with padded interiors on parabolic flight paths.

My brother works for NASA. Several years ago, he was part of a crew doing some experiments that set a record for the most number of parabolic maneuvers in one flight. He had a video of him floating down the fuselage. He called the plane the “Vomit Comet” although he did not lose his lunch during the flight.

Likely never broke 3000 MPH.

And slowed after engine cutoff and coast the res of the trip, slowing near the top, then back over and pick up some speed.

It might get several hundred degrees, but you have to be cookin' to start smokin', especially with little atmosphere way up high where the go-fast is.

Indeed. Behold the astronaut musical group, OK Go.

My kids love this video.
The behind the scenes on it is good, too.
