Thanks And yes, I feel your pain. Hard to believe just a few miles separates two extremes in respect to firearms laws. At least IL finally got on the CCW train a couple yrs ago.

They won't listen, and the ones that do won't believe it--it will be labeled as "fake news" or "misinformation", a ploy by the "gun nuts" to get their way. I've now been an "adopted-in" Texan for 42 years. I've witnessed the slow progress from "may issue" CCW therough "Shall issue" CCW and LTC, "car carry", and now "Connstitutional Carry". When I first came to Texas in 1980 we relied on sketchy interpretation of "traveling" to permit having a firearm readily available in our cars. Things have come a long way here, and I totally approve. Folks living outside Texas have always assumed that Texans all ran around with guns on their hips, as in the Old West (which really wasn't that way, either), but it wasn't true. In 1980 Texas was NOT a gun-friendly state, as we define it now. It has taken several decades, but it is now, and we are all better for it. Thank you, Texas Republicans! flashguyThis message has been edited. Last edited by: flashguy, Texan by choice, not accident of birth

Imagination and focus become reality |
In December of 1979 I applied for a license to carry in Indiana. The application was denied by the Gary, IN police department. I appealed that decision to the Supt. of State Police. He reversed the denial and I received my license in the spring of 1980. Over the years I have renewed my license every four years up until they allowed for a lifetime license, which I got. Indiana was a shall issue state even in 1979. This is of course, even better. Although I have a lifetime license, and this doesn't directly affect me, this is the right decision for the residents of Indiana!

I understand this but think it's convoluted and unnecessary. Proof of state residence (IN in this case) should be sufficient in reciprocity states.

Imagination and focus become reality |
All the years I have had a license to carry, I always had to pay for it, even the lifetime license. As I understand it, a license to carry now is free. I don't see it as a big deal to get a license if you want to carry in other states. As it is with my license I can have a loaded pistol in my car when traveling to Illinois.
