Until there is. Razz

My wife and I were driving to dinner at night in the middle lane of a 3 lane road. A car behind us with super bright headlights is so far up on our rear end it would have to back off 15 ft just to be considered tailgating.

After a few, the car moves over to the inside lane right on the rear of the car that was slowly over taking us but was still behind us. It rides that car's rear and that car appears to slow down some.

So the car whips over 2 lanes to the outside lane, speeds past us and gets on the rear of the car that is ahead of it in that lane, but it still can’t get around it because of the car in front of us, so it continues to ride the cars rear end,

My wife mentioned that there is never a cop around when you need one, just as a cop pulled along side of us and went all disco lights on it. I rolled my window down and stuck a thumb’s up out as we passed the cop. Its always good to see your tax dollars at work.

I was stuck in after school traffic at an intersection that's under construction/reprofile.
A Subaru Forester 2 cars behind me decided to jump in the center turn lane and move up [probably unknowing that it's blocked at the intersection].
I got frustrated at the impatience, which was quickly resolved when the cruiser jumped into the turn lane behind them and lit them up Big Grin

Now, if we could resolve the people using the VIP HOV lane as their personal passing lane...

There is only a few miles of limited access freeway in all of Alaska, and my commute to and from work consisted of 4 miles of it each way. I guess to some it seemed like a race track.

One day, there was a SUV weaving across all 3 lanes at a high rate of speed and was missing other vehicles by inches. Just as I was saying, "too bad there isn't a cop when you need one" the rocket scientist decided to make a 3-lane change exit at my exit. There was already a SUV on the exit ramp and per his driving habits he missed it by mere inches. I received a shot of joy as that SUV flipped on its lights. Yep, he recklessly changed lanes at high speed and the last vehicle he narrowly missed was an Alaska State Trooper.

Several of us took the opportunity to honk and wave as we drove passed the pulled over SUV full of teenagers.

I try not to judge people tailgating. I don’t know what’s going on with him. Maybe he’s just an asshole, or maybe he’s rushing to a hospital with someone sick or injured in the vehicle. Who knows? When it happens to me, I simply pull off to the side and let them by. We both get on our way at our respective speeds with no raised blood pressures on either side.

I'd agree, when possible. I'm rarely in that much of a hurry that an asshole in a bigger hurry is going to bother me.
I used to be a pretty impatient and aggressive driver, in my 20s, that's dwindled a lot over the years.

"in the middle lane of a 3 lane road"

You mean the 3 lane road where just up ahead the left lane becomes a left turn only lane to go east towards the beach, the right lane becomes an on ramp to the same road going west towards Jax, and the middle lane continues under the overpass as a single lane road? Passing lane rules may exist on the interstate, but they don't necessarily apply in the middle of a small beach town.
