Cell phone store robbery, being aware vs not
I can only imagine how many times they must have been robbed at gun point for the guy behind the counter to be that in tune to the situation.

Slowing it down as best I could, employee cleared his draw as soon as guy stepped back from counter and grabbed his shirt. It looks to me like he actually waited to see weapon then fired.

Pretty good reaction and waiting for positive ID of threat before firing. Maintained cover on the threat until he perceived threat was over. Excellent job.

You know all those action movies we pick apart or admire for this or that?

That video shows what they need to really be depicting.

That dude behind the counter would be welcome to share a trench with me if it ever came to it.

That is what I'm thinking and mr robber didn't seem have a clue.

Looked to me that when the guy started nervously fumbling the new phone on the counter, he suddenly started paying a lot more attention.
Also he saw things from a different perspective and may have seen a gun or outline under the shirt.
He was much closer than our camera view with a 90 degree different perspective.
In any case, he was observant and got the job done effectively.

Hmmm, now where did we keep that number for emergency services? I know it was around here somewhere.

That is what I saw, too. The shooter reached for his pistol as soon as the robber started reaching under his shirt. He had the gun out, and shot as soon as it was clear the robber had a gun. It sure looks like he was watching that guy the whole time, just in case.

Brazil is very high crime. People at stores like that are probably very attuned to armed robbers.

The first giveaway, even before the thug reached under his shirt, was that he suddenly withdrew the right hand from the counter and dropped it to the side. Who does that, when just a second ago, you were fondling the phone with both hands?

Having seen a lot of shot people when I was policing, I’ve always been weirdly curious as to what caliber and where the injury was….I’m sure it’s not just me[/QUOTE]

Glad to see the perp have a final chance to reflect about his actions/life before the lights went out. Maybe he left this world like Carl Bruner in the movie Ghost.

Yeah, looks like a hit below the rib cage, right in the centerline. That much blood that fast had to be a vena cava hit, especially as fast as he went lights out. No blood pressure to the brain. That's a great shot, another few inches in either direction may not have put him down that fast.
