US Navy. ‘76 - ‘80. Gunners Mate, ASROC (Anti-submarine rocket)

Boot camp, A school and C school - Great Lakes 9/76 - 10/77.

USS Valdez DE1096, USS DuPont DD941 - Norfolk, Va.
USS Dale CG19 Mayport, Fla.

North Atlantic, Med and Caribbean cruises.

First time at sea was the North Atlantic in November. Took two weeks to get my sea legs. Saw the carrier we were sailing with take waves on the flight deck. I was on a Frigate/Destroyer Escort at the time. We had to hold on.

Finished as GMT2. Used the GI Bill to go to college.

Were you a 31 delta, or 3rd ID?

If the former, where did you serve.

I was a 31D and did 2nd ID and 10th mtn

Not a day goes by where I do not wish I was still in. Sometimes I even have dreams about it.

Oh, man, your family epitomizes service and sacrifice. Thank God for the warrior culture. A toast to comrades absent.
