“Four North Korean youths could face a year in brutal forced labour camps after reportedly being arrested for 'talking like South Koreans'.

The group, all in their twenties, were arrested in Chongjin, the country's third largest city, after being reported for mimicking lines from South Korean films.

State security authorities were tipped off by a local residents who had overheard the four.

The young adults are currently being questioned by Chongjin's Ministry of State Security and could be sentenced to a year in Kim Jong-un's cruel labour camps, according to Daily NK.

North Korea has increasingly cracked down on what it claims are South Korean influences in recent years.

Kim Jong-un has previously described K-pop as a 'vicious cancer' while they have targeted other slang words.

A 2020 law made the distribution of South Korean programmes punishable by death, while those watching it could face 15 years in a prison camp. …”

Poor kids. North Korea is a shitty place to have the misfortune of being born.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

It’s hard for people to get enough of that when they can’t even get enough nourishment.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Apparently Norks have an incentive program for ratting on your people.

So, the ones "who have had enough" will be in a camp and made an example of before any real movement happens

Well, at least these kids weren't showing off their mastery of "ebonics," and hip hop. Or worse, passing themselves off as a K-pop group.

Yeah, these kids were turned in by the locals who lived there. There is no hope whatsoever for this country. The years of brainwashing have taken their toll.

Never occurred to me but I like the idea outlined above. Let China just take them over and hope for the best. Do you think China really wants them though?

The insidiousness of this is that the kids were turned in by the locals because the locals could have also thought the kids were planted to test their loyalty. If the kids were plants and the locals did not report them, then the locals would be in prison instead. Who knows, the kids could have been government plants after all. In any case, the lesson is spread far and wide: comply with the government.

I listened to a podcast by someone who escaped North Korea. Even the family knew not to talk inside their house because the walls have ears and the pictures of the dear leaders that everyone had to have in their homes could hear them.

We need to alert the harpy Karens chasing after ICE agents and send them to where these atrocities are happening--and they should protest, chant, and use their cell phone cameras while yelling "where is your warrant!" ;-)

Safe bet that if they could impose their will with force, they would. They have no weapons, they have no food, they’re oppressed with fear for the slightest infraction and the consequences are imposed on entire families. It’s a familiar formula for how a few exploit and oppress the many. It’s a formula the Left is assembling in this country gradually. We have the strength and capacity to resist so far.

It’s my understanding the Chicoms even think they’re nuts and way too extreme and don’t really want anything to do with them.

One of the main escape routes out of North Korea is China

More likely the CCP likes having NK as a pitbull to antagonize the US, SK, and Japan, with plausible deniability that they are behind or supportive of NK.

Precisely.
China has zero interest in taking-on 25-million dummies and idiots. NK is viewed as an isolated nest of ideological weirdos whose population is viewed as intellectually stunted and pliant. For every bright and perceptive Nork, there's a 10,000 others who are submissive to whatever their government instructs; at this point they're Russia's cheap munitions factory. China is perfectly fine keeping them isolated but available to do various projects when needed otherwise, continue antagonizing the West.

Wasn't it estimated after the wall came down that 10% of East German residents were Stasi informants ?
