Spectrum keeps jacking with price.
AT&T does not have fiber here but wants to offer me a pretty nice price on their 5G home internet since we have AT&T cell service.
Very good cell service at the house.

Is it any good?

If you're rural, go with starlink.

Not Rural. If Starlink price were slight less I would use it just because.
Cost is still to high for me when I do have a number of high speed options.

Not AT&T , I'm using T-mobile Home Internet. Currently averaging 500mbps of 5g service. Very happy. Only 1 outage (5 minutes) in two years. If AT&T is your only option, give it a try. Don't disconnect cable until you're sure. You can try T-mobile too.

I'm thinking about doing the same. It's $60 here.
Spectrum has gotten stupid expensive.

I've had it for the majority of this year, changed from their old wireless router because they got to the point of trying to charge me for going over my data usage. I use my 60 inch flatscreen in the living room for my monitor and the wife uses the Smart tv in the bedroom to stream netflix and youtube. only problem we have had is occasionally It will lose signal and I have to hit the reset button on the back but thats pretty rare. Overall I've been very happy with it.

Cingular has always been a PoS provider, as was SBC. Appropriating a long-honored name in comm. did not change this.

I don't trust radio anyway, I'd stick with fiber or even co-ax to the property if the decision were in my hands.

The speeds may be too low for you but we signed up with Xfinity NOW cable intenet about 2 years ago and it's been solid and can't beat the price.

It's a flat rate $30 a month for 100 mbps and $45 a month for 200 mbps. We use the 100 mbps and it's been adequate for our needs.

No "fees" or taxes or other BS that adds $10 or $15 more dollars like other services do with their base prices. You pay $30 or $45 and that's it and the price is supposedly set with no price increase after a year like a lot of them do too. They give you the gateway too and it's no charge, I have mine set up to act as modem-only and I use my own Wifi router.

Yup, I recently ditched the “debil” for that reason, plus these asshole kept jacking up their price. I said AMF and went with ezee fiber, fixed flat rate no hidden fees at $49 for 1 G.

1 G isn’t much data nowadays. I pay T-Mobile $55/month for 15 GBytes/month.

Over the years, I have had many, many, (too many to count) service interruptions with wired internet access, have been using the cellular technology internet with ZERO interruptions, except when the power company puts us in the dark, which would affect most any type of internet access.

He's probably referring to 1G speed, not total data.

When fiber was put into my neighborhood, I called Live Oak to pre signup. Live Oak said that there was a contract that said ATT had exclusivity for a year. I waited a year. As posted earlier, ATT is the devil. Just look at their commercials.

Possibly true. Hard to know when the poster neglects to specify units.

When I was in engineering school only half credit was granted for a numerically correct answer if units were omitted.

^^^ Well, I was responding to PASig, who was talking about speed, so, that should have been no confusion. But, I guess some engineer couldn’t figure that out without a full quote. Razz

Many people get this confused, and the mobile and internet providers do nothing to clarify. Instead, they intentionally mix and match numerical "G terms" for "generation" (mobile technologies), Gigabit (wired technologies) and total bytes handled (data "caps"). In most cases, terms like "5G" and "100G" have little or nothing to do with each other, referring to two disjoint technologies.

I am convinced that most, if not all, providers use traffic shaping and other techniques to mislead consumers that their infrastructure is "faster" than their competitors by manipulating the results of "speed test" sites, and. of course, outright lying.
