I don't care for the way he's pushed the retirement age through but the French (and a lot of others) also have to understand basic math. All these social and benefit programs can't continue to be paid out of thin air. We have similar problems with Social Security, much due to adding benefits that weren't there when it was designed, people are living longer and the population not increasing at the same rate as in the past. Even so, ours has much higher age requirements and it still needs some work to kick the can down the road. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible. | |||

I think it does have to do with raising the retirement age. As a related aside - Has anyone recently listened to the French National Anthem? It has to do with “making heads roll”. If you are not familiar with it a good rendition can be found here: https://youtu.be/7MQ-SC9bmp4o It includes English subtitles. Called La Marseillaise, sung by Mirelle Mathieu “Inspirational” is a word that comes to mind when I listen to it. | |||

I'd say you have that backwards. They're much more pissed about the raising of the retirement age than how it was raised.
