Decorum Request - please don't thread shit.
  • If all you have to contribute is something akin to "I don't watch football" then move along.
  • Keep the ribbing good natured or at least goodish natured

The Power 5 conferences have their championships this weekend, and as expected most have impacts on college football playoffs. Here are the matchups:
  • #11 Utah @ #4 USC for PAC 12. I predict Utah pulls off the upset Wink In all seriousness, the game was last night and Utah won 47-24.
  • #10 Kansas State @ #3 TCU for Big 12 at Noon EST on ABC. The Horn Dogs are favored by 1. My buddy is a K state alumni so I'll be rooting for the Wildcats. K State pulls off upset.
  • #14 LSU @ #1 Georgia for SEC at 4:00 PM EST on CBS. The bulldogs are favored by 17.5. The Bulldogs win and cover.
  • Purdue @ #2 Michigan for Big Ten at 7:00 PM EST on Fox. The Wolverines are favored by 16.5. I'm hoping the Spoilermakers make an appearance tonight and get off to a quick start against slow starting UofM. Purdue leads at half, UofM wins, UofM fails to cover.
  • #9 Clemson @ #23 North Carolina for ACC at 7:00 PM EST on ABC. The Tigers are favored by 7.5.

Who are your rooting for? Are you brave enough to predict both win and spread? Who are the 4 teams in the playoff?

If things go the way I'm predicting the playoffs will be Georgia, UofM, Alabama, and Ohio State.

Didn’t see SC/Utah because the NFR is on now, but I saw some things posted about the game last night. Sounds like Utah out-toughed SC on both sides of the ball. I also read that the Trojans didn’t tackle well. As Todd stated, probably puts Ohio State in the playoff.

I’ll root for K-State, I guess, but I think TCU wins. I don’t think I’ll pick against the spread, I’m just not a gambler, so I don’t care.

    Georgia.

Michigan. I am well aware of Purdue’s impressive record of upsets against ranked opponents, but I don’t think they have the horses today.

Clemson/NC. I honestly don’t know a thing about either. Clemson has dropped off the front page of the sports section and in a nutshell, I don’t follow the ACC.

Assuming TCU does in fact, beat K-State (and Meeshegun defeats Purdue), the final four looks like:
    Georgia
    Michigan
    TCU
    Ohio State

SEC East vs West. Georgia vs LSU. Oh, man its going to be good. My team is the Vols, but kinda pulling for Georgia on this one. I love to watch Brian Kelly lose ever since he left Cinci high and dry. I mean the man left a team prior to a bowl appearance.

Worse than that, he told them he wasn't staying unless they spent tens of millions in facility (e.g. stadium) upgrades. They do it and he left anyway.

  • Right before kick-off, I bet my buddy a fifth of Irish whiskey on the game. I'm now rooting for TCU as it gets me Bushmill's Black and would likely keep Bama out of the playoffs. I had to give him 1.5 points.

I think this is the first bet I've made in a decade.

Our son received his undergraduate degree from Utah and was in the stadium last night to cheer on the Utes. We watched it on the tube and I declared, after USC went up 17-3, “Game Over”.

I was clearly wrong. Utah played a great second half. Congratulations, Utah.

    "slow starting UofM"

Well, I don't think so. Michigan TD first series after a Purdue punt.

    Ummm, Michigan!

(Not really sure why an UNDEFEATED team has to play another team with a significantly different record for the Big 10 championship...)

Umm, you mean like TCU and K-State in the Big XII?

Well, TCU lost a close one, but I’d still rather see them in the CFP than Bama.

Much as I would like to see Alabama in the playoffs I think the committee will go with GA, MI, OSU and TCU.

Sets up an interesting rematch. Or they could put OSU 4 to make them have to upset GA to get another shot at MI/TCU winner.

Hey Tatortodd how about those Wolverines? Michigan covered the spread and won their second Big Ten Championship in a row, much to your dismay.

Go Blue! Hail to The Victors!

After the Buckeyes last performance against ichigan, I do not think they deserve or will will stand a chance with Georgia or any of the other top teams. It would be good to see someone get in besides Bama or the Buckeyes. But that won't happen till the playoffs are expanded.

Good Luck to the teams that do make it in!!

As big an Ohio State fan as I am, I agree with you. They are as physical team as they’ve ever been, where they lack is mentally being able to play big games. Georgia is a better team and I feel Mich would beat them again if it comes to that. Ryan Day is a good coach but he doesn’t put any fire into them
