MySocialSecurity account?

Pipe SmokerMySocialSecurity account?
I’m collecting 1099s for upcoming TY2025 filing and payments. In prior years I logged in to my Social Security account to get the SSA-1099. No problem.
But now my login attempt fails, even though I have my username and PW in my PW manager. But there’s a message. It looks as though they want me to establish yet another account named MySocialSecurity.
Are any of you seeing that?

Fly-SigI've always used ssa dot gov. I tried it just now and everything looked ok all the way through the 2 factor authentication, then it said it can't complete my request and to contact them.
hmm. Idk what the story is.

6gunsI just took a quick look and the website I'm used to is ssa.gov. I didn't actually log in though.
ETA, tried logging in and it didn't recognize either my email address or password. It requested email address even though that's not my "user name".
I don't know what the story is either.

The Social Security username sign-in option is no longer available. Please use Login.gov or ID.me instead.
This has been in place for at least a year I think. You have to use one of those, most go with Login.gov I think.
That message is from the landing page to log in, so not sure how you're even getting around that. Just used my Login.gov credentials, works fine.

12131I just now logged on using Login.gov. No problem. Yeah, there are only two sign in options: Login.gov or ID.me.

Pipe SmokerEven after logging in to LOGIN.GOV first the SSA login fails with the message:
“We're sorry but this program has terminated unexpectedly”. But there’s the advice to set up the “MySocialSecurity” account. Yet another account. Grrr

6gunsI made it in through ID.me. It remembered my sign in info, but then still need third party auth.
Looking at my earnings statement, my first earnings year was 1973 and made a whopping $216! Adjusted for inflation, that would be $1577 today.

Soome time ago, like maybe last year, Social Security switched from their own login system to using either id.me or login.gov.

I would do "Clear browser data" or cache and try again. Or use a different browser.

GeorgeairAdvance user tip - if you have a Login.gov account for other purposes (like filing work payments, returns, etc.) be sure you've not associated your SSA account with that. This took me way too long to sort out that I had crossover in the two.

Pipe SmokerIt appears that I got it working again. I pasted this into my browser:
“How to establish a MySocialSecurity account?”
And found a site with good instructions.
I wish that they wouldn’t keep changing the procedures. Tax time is stressful enough as it is.
I’ve been using LOGIN.GOV for several years to get in to my social security account, but it didn’t work today until I made some revisions.

SpinZoneYes. I had to create a login.gov account, and then use thoses login credentials to log into ssa.gov.

I believe they are 'trying' to get away from that. Difficult, I imagine, for a LOT of seniors.

Would be OK with me to do away with it, but I am not going to seek that out, and they have never asked me to.
