I carry for the same reasons 911 Boss and YooperSigs indicated.

A P365 either IWB or OWB at 3-4 o'clock. I also have, used to carry, a P320SC 9mm on standby.

The only places I don't carry are Federal offices and courthouses.

I have carried a gun almost every day of the 50 years of my adult life, on and off duty, and since I have been retired. It is a lifestyle-car keys, wallet, knife, gun are my daily accessories. I carried 14 different handguns for duty in 42 years of law enforcement with three agencies. Many different holsters and methods of carry, including having my wife put it in her purse from time to time. Of all those guns and carry methods, I always come back to a carry sized pistol like the P228, P220 carry, P320c, etc., in a strong side OWB holster. For the past 8 years I have been carrying a P220 Carry Elite, now in a Blackpoint Tactical OWB holster. If Sig would make a Legion P220 Carry SAO I would switch.

My greatest nightmare is to be present when violence erupts and to not be able to do anything about it.

If I'm out and about, yes. In fact, usually two, a "get-off-me"/backup in my pocket, a main on my belt, sometimes a knife. At home? Not necessarily. It's hard to carry a gun in only a T-shirt and boxers. Maybe a shoulder holster? Razz And I'm not going to load up for the 50-foot walk to my mailbox. But one is at least nearby.

What GWbiker said.

I usually carry a Sig P6, sometimes a P228, usually strong side IWB, but if I'm working it may be in my computer bag.

I work on computer networks and sometimes get not some pretty shady areas.

I also carry (or have within arms length) at home.

I live in an area that for myself its a 24/7 armed for me.
Cops are just a mere twelve minutes away.
Last couple years just putting my hand on the gun has save me two beat downs as the hood rats were on that tare around here.

Yes, but what I carry depends on my perceived threat level.

When I walk the dogs I typically have my LCRx with snake shot in the first 2 chambers.
Low to medium threat: Ruger LC9s Pro or Glock 26
Moderate threat: Glock 19. Backpack with AR-15 pistol and 3 magazines.
High Threat: S&W Performance center 1911 with extra 10 rd. magazine. Backpack with AR-15 pistol and 3 magazines.

When out and about in public I ALWAYS carry.
In the house a gun is within easy access.

Why Carry a Gun?
My old Grandpa said to me, 'Son, there comes a time in every man's life when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's when he becomes too old to take a whoopin'.' I don't carry a gun to kill people; I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I don't carry a gun because I'm evil; I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the World.
I don't carry a gun because I hate the government; I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.
I don't carry a gun because I'm angry; I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone; I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.
I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man; I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.
I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate; I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.
I don't carry a gun because I love it; I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me. Police protection is an oxymoron: Free citizens must protect themselves because police do not protect you from crime; they just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess. Personally,
I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take a whoopin'!

What places are these that have such high threat levels?

Yeah, I want to know where someone voluntarily goes that they need an AR pistol. I'd try to avoid that area.

All the time or within easy reach in the house. I avoid places outside of my home where carry is prohibited.

This says it all for me as well. I've carried most of the 45 years I've had a CPL. 1911's for years, then a P239 and now a P938. All IWB on the right side.

curious about that as well

and interesting choices,

not criticizing, I have a handful of handguns I rotate, but no AR pistol,

have stuck a HD type shotgun or a AR m4ish in the trunk a few times, just cause, (usually some asshattery over blown by the media going on)

Your grandpa was a wise man, I'd like to steal that quote from you and use it when someone says why do you need a gun?

As for original question, never during work. Only 1/2 the time on the weekends, always when traveling (if legal to do so). Soon to be bride doesn't check the mail or get something from her car without her LC9. She does AIWB, I carry IWB at 3:30-4:00 with 228, 229, 225-A1. M11-A1. If in the woods it's 226 OWB.

This should be a Poll. I'd be curious to know how many (by %) on this forum that do not regularly carry. I carry around my attire.

Glock 19 with an Inforce APLC carried appendix with a spare mag in my left front pocket. I used to only carry when off work, however after receiving a threat to our work place last summer it has been every day since. My safety outweighs the negatives of being caught with it at work. I can always find another job if it came to it.

I had a 43 that I would carry occasionally, however after thinking about it and realizing I had only carried it once in 8 months I decided to sell it. The 19 carries easier for me personally.

I sometimes carry a small gun around Wickenburg, but always when I travel anywhere else (typically Phoenix), I have my P220-10mm SAO, in a nicely made suede lined leather holster from Andrews Custom Leather. I believe in a thumb break for any cocked and locked SA pistol. I'm not as fast getting it out as Raylan Givens, but it presents no problem to me. I often practice with it in our local matches, since I am hobbled in both legs and my scores are not going to be that great anyway.
