All the big box stores advertise them but, noone actually stiocks this brand. Is there a reasonable way to order them without paying up front in a big box store and waiting for ever to recieve them ?

Wiha direct thru website. They used to offer very good deals on overstock or clearance.
KC Tools for all other European hand tools.

I kinda fear ordering through Amazon as one of the sets I want shows no absolute way of ordering them without the possibility of a issue coming up. I've been screwed by Amazon before when I ordered a Generator which never arrived.

WIHA is now owned by a Chinese company. Only some of their tools are currently made in Germany.

Since when? Got a link? I can't find any info re: Chinese ownership whatsoever! The Wiha website indicates exactly what 'KLGUY' posted.

I have Wiha pliers that were made in Viet Nam. Lowes sells some smaller items but not made in Germany.

Go with Wera, Felo or Knipex. instead.

I bought a set of Wiha precision drivers from Amazon and didn’t have a problem. If you are looking for high quality drivers, try PB Swiss at: https://drpd.cc/?gad_source=1&...O-LKGXRoCPIUQAvD_BwE

Wiha doesn't have a parent company, Chinese or otherwise. They are still family owned, in Germany.

Wiha themselves have a subsidiary in China, along with around a dozen other subsidiaries in various countries including the US.

But Wiha isn't Chinese-owned.

However, Wiha has expanded over the last several years into offering some cheaper tools for sale in big box stores like Lowes, which are made in Vietnam or Taiwan and have some corners cut to meet that lower price point. These lower-end tools sometimes aren't the same level of quality as you may have come to expect from Wiha tools, though they are still backed by Wiha's warranty.

If you have a Motion Industries branch near you they sell Whia tools. Most will not have stock but they can order for you.

I've gotten stuff direct from them and am on their email list. That, like Sigforum in general, can be an expensive proposition.

Great tools though and as mentioned regular sales direct from them.

Knipex I've gotten through Amazon with good results. Oh, sorry, I did it again! Razz

The Wiha US distribution center is about 15 miles from me. It is very real and has a US and German flag flying.

Just got this by email this morning, back in stock!
Not that I have a use for a $300 screwdriver, but one shaped like a screwdriver instead of drill is nice. The list of features is pretty impressive!

You might also look at Chad's Toolbox for the Wiha goods you're after. No doubt you'll find more goodies you want while you're there!
