I'm old enough that even ladies in their 60s and 70s hold the door for me. Smile And supermarket checkouts have been offering to provide help for several years.

I am 88. I don't feel particularly "old" although the plumbing has a few leaks and/or stoppages from time to time.

The docs tend to have a simple diagnosis for my various problems; "Well, you are 88".

No one holds doors for me, but I live in the South and girls (women under 50) have started calling me Honey.

People do rush around holding ladders for me and all seem to expect me to fall from the first step, so I do my climbing when no one is watching.

Someone once said when you're young and fall people laugh at you. You know you're old when you fall and people run to help you.

Well,I must be old, in my 70's, and today at Runnings I dropped a box of primers and the clerk, without a moments hesitation, said she'd pick them up for me. I guess it shows.

My great grandfather, grandfather and father all died at 52 from various issues. At 62 I'm the longest living male on my father's side of the family. I feel very fortunate to not have any major health issues other than a sore back.

I go back and forth on the age thing. I actually felt old on my 27th birthday as is struck me that I was no longer "a kid".

I'll be 67 in a few months and am thankful for my physical and mental (my wife may dispute the latter) condition. On one hand I am happy that physically I'm in better shape than most folks half my age, but it is evident that things are declining, slowly, at least for now.

My parents were in better physical condition than almost all of their friends, right up to the day they died.

I'm in better shape at 76 than they were at 56.

So it's a new world.

I go in for my medical checkups, and the doc asks me how am I doing. I tell him I don't know, because I have never been this age before, and don't know what to expect as being normal.

I have already out lived my father and my oldest brother. I must be at least doing something right.....or very lucky!!

I just thought they were interested in me.

Hey Gramps, I got news for you. When a sweet young thang smiles at you, it's not that she's interested in you, it's just that you remind her of her sweet dearly loved grandpa.

I was devastated when I turned 30, It was the end to me!! I will turn 65 in less than a month, so I guess I was wrong. After 30 were my greatest accomplishments, built a beautiful house, raised 2 beautiful kids, and still loving the love of my life after 38 years.

The plumbing and heating business is starting to wear me down though, starting into my 53rd year and its wearing on me bad. Getting ready to retire!!

Turning 50 is a piece of cake. It's realizing that you only have about 30 left that really sucks.

When I was young people in their 50's seemed like they were at deaths door. Its definitely not that way now. People seem to act and feel younger than they used too.

I feel old. I took a nap this morning that really was a good one. Woke up around noon! But now I have a problem. I can't remember what or where we had lunch. Doesn't matter. I do remember where we had lunch. I have no problem admitting I feel old. Some days older than another. What really scares me is when someone says you're only as old as you feel.

My dad is 79 and is a wreck. 30% kidney function. Very overweight. Mentally sharp however.
Spoke today to one of my career mentors, an old boss in the banking industry who is also 79, birthday was last week so I called to wish him a belated birthday. Plays golf often is going on a tropical vacation in the AM and is in great physical shape.

Because the age threshold for a senior discount varies widely from establishment to establishment, I don't ask for one (if they offer it), but I have found myself getting it without asking. I still work every day in a fairly physically strenuous job, but it is getting harder to straighten back up from kneeling or squatting, and I dread having to work under a dashboard. My plan, such as it is, is to work full time two more years.

My Dad turned 79 in February and has cancer. Had the mass removed from his left lung and they also took a portion of his lung. He's alright but is on the downhill side of course so I might be tempted to say old.
I'm 54 and there's days things don't want to cooperate. A lot of years spent lifting 60-80 pounds all day has taken a toll. I can still do it but when I get home, I'm sore and worn out.
I'm not old but there's days I feel like it.

I can still cut my own toenails (and still remember to do it) so I'm not there yet.
