One of the highest priced, to my knowledge, stations in Houston, the last station before the ISH rental return, was 4.099 for regular yesterday.
I'll likely fill up both of our cars this weekend, so we'll see what 'normal' is for N Houston

Costco online says
$3.559 for 87
$4.559 for 93
$4.759 for Diesel

The Enemy's gate is down.

I can remember the times in the 70s when conflict in the Mid-East caused oil shortages. Our government put price controls on gasoline to keep the price down. IIRC it never got above $1.00 a gallon. Of course we had to wait in long lines on alternate days to get it.

The higher the better it seems. Stock markets are at all times highs, unemployment is nonexistent, retirement accounts are healthy. High gas prices used to have the inverse effect.

On 30 April 2026 paid $4.38

But checking my notes back on 30 May 2022 paid $4.85 during the beginning of the Ukraine problems.
At first I thought I made a mistake and checked on google and found the information was correct.
It peaked for Pennsylvania in June 2022 at $5.00 gallon.

Went up to $4.69 today.

Upon going to town and heading home saw it jump twenty cents at one station.

If it turns out like that debacle we are in for a world of hurt.

Really need these prices to drop.

The price per gallon was bad enough but now they are allowing the ethanol to be increased to 15%

Paid 4.39 9/10 per gallon for diesel 2/11/26 before operation Epic FAFO started.

Paid 6.39 9/10 per gallon for diesel 5/3/26.

Price range I see is 6.19 to 6.59 dollars per gallon for diesel in west side of PDX metro Hell.

I chuckle at the people complaining about a temporary spike in gas prices while they sit in a drive-through paying seven dollars for some weird coffee

$5.60 for diesel around me. It was $3.30 when this started.
I use about 50 gallons per week for my side business.
I don't buy $7.00 coffee.

I’m away from my usual station today, so I can’t offer my usual price quotes.

However…
I had a fun talk with my “other brother” last week, and we hit on gas prices for a bit. Then the realization came: let’s look at the big picture!

What’s the big picture? Yep, I’m paying 50-60% more per gallon for gasoline now, to the tune of an additional couple hundred bucks a month. That stinks. But my 401k growth is WAY outpacing my fuel cost increase. Big picture: I’m still in the good.

It’s all about perspective, right? Big Grin
