It jumped another .50 a gallon here yesterday. Up a $1.20 in a few weeks. But it will take a six months to a year for it to lose that amount.
Remember, when you point this out, you’re just being angry.
Yep. Right on track. Now, it’s someone else’s fault and you still shouldn’t look at the amount of profits being made by oil companies.

Finally decided to fill the Jerry cans I picked up 3+ years ago. Thought about it a couple weeks back but thought I'd wait so I could spend more at the pump.....

According to Gas Buddy, that Costco is $0.08 to $0.18 per gallon cheaper than other Top Tier gas stations on the same street. In my travels (e.g. Hawaii), Costco's Top Tier gasoline is routinely the best buy.
States like Texas allow loss leader pricing (i.e. can sell below cost), but multi-product line businesses like Costco have to be careful not to violate federal anti-trust predatory pricing (i.e. meaning a business prices an item below cost specifically to drive out competitors and monopolize the market). According to Gemini AI:
WI, MD, and FL prohibit loss leader in gasoline pricing
AL, AR, CO, MA, MO, NJ, NY, NC, SC, and WV restrict loss leader in gasoline pricing
I mention all of this because if driving past a Costco is part of your routine and you live in a non-restrictive state then the $65 annual membership break even on gasoline alone is 361 to 813 gallons of gas per year at the price deltas P250 experienced. The $130 executive membership break even is 722 to 1625 gallons of gas per year, and that's not even factoring in the 2% cashback from executive membership.

Steady for over a week now, at $3.97 / 5.97 for regular / diesel.
Crude was pushing $100/barrel this morning and downward toward $97 as I type; I'm curious what happens next. Maybe I'll get more nerdy and add the WTI price to my chart.

ETA: I found a historical WTI list here and have started backfilling that into my chart. Lots of 2025 and prior data to transfer still. Anyway:

Apologies. I can't seem to get the image size right, and I don't know why Excel left out three of the labels when saving my graph as an image.
