| Get my pies outta the oven! ![]() |
I want to get a nice waffle maker for my wife, she loves making them for the kids and they love eating them but the one we have is small and the grates are not removable which makes it a real PITA for cleaning. Can anyone recommend a good one they may use? Requirements: Electric Large capacity Removable grates that can go in dishwasher Thanks!

removable plates are basically a non starter, however the Ninja Vertical Waffle Maker is awesome based on my understanding, from reviewers I trust. _____________________________________________ Proverbs 3:31 "Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways."

They're uncommon. I suppose this would meet you're requirements. https://www.webstaurantstore.c...r-120v/382WSM11.html _____________________________________________ Proverbs 3:31 "Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways."

When I was growing up with 3 sisters we had a large waffle maker with removable plates and if I remember correctly the plates were reversible and Mom would make pancakes on the other side. Obviously they don’t make that model any more but here are a listing of nice ones that all have detachable plates… https://www.bestproductsreview...VL1y3MoaAsuuEALw_wcB ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina

We have the Cuisinart, works OK, but kind of a pain to clean. When I bought, I looked for one with removable plates, with little luck. A quick Amazon search discloses several options including the Formanator that are described as "panini presses" with swap-out waffle plates, most of these look smaller than one might want (two waffles rather than four).

I have one with removable plates, but once seasoned there is no reason you should ever have to take them out, wash them, etc. Just cool, brush, store. I don't know why y'all are "cleaning" them unless you are putting syrup IN the batter! I'm going to share a secret with you. All the current makers are either too small, holes too big, too slow to make several or just underwhelming. What you want is one from the 60's-ish timeframe. My parents had this, I still use it many times a year, have bought two to keep in reserve along with the two I bought to give my kids. The only reason I'm even sharing this with you folks is I have my supply filled! Link to one for sale below. That one is in decent shape, and with some patience you can find them almost new from time to time. Shipping will always be expensive, but I've paid up to $85 before, including shipping. General Electric 26G46T Grill Waffle Baker That's the model number you want. Trust me, you will make folks happy, and with 6 waffles per bake you can keep a pretty good flow of them coming out for as long as you have batter! You only have integrity once. - imprezaguy02

We have two of these and use both simultaneously. We cook a whole batch at the same time (18-20) and freeze the extras. Cleanup involves closing the lid on a damp paper towel while it's still hot (not enough to burn, of course) and wiping it down. They run about $30 and we've had them for 20+ years with no issues. We have this one, also from Cuisinart. Had it several yesrs and it’s been great, I don’t imagine it matters too much. Cuisinart Belgian Waffle Maker _______________________________________________________ despite them

We still have our kids favorite maker too, from the 90's. They are now "vintage" and go for $150+, so not a great option. I think the Waring made in USA waffle makers were somewhat of a standard - the benchmark. Keeping an eye out in thrift stores for one. THIS, I have a Waring Pro that is 15 years old and works amazing. You're not going to find a good one with dishwasher removable plates. NOTHING sticks to the plates on a good waffle maker, spray a little non stick on it, let it get hot and pour the batter in, when you're done it's like a cast iron, just wipe it off.......then just spray it with non stick and let it get hot, waffle makers get too hot to worry about getting sick from anything on it.

We have been using that round Cuisinart model for years. S’mores waffle recipe - Make waffle (heat setting 3) When done, open lid and layer on one half of waffle crushed graham crackers, mini chocolate chips and mini marshmallows, fold waffle over, close lid for a few moments to meltify everything together, remove, put sifted confection sugar on top and serve! Too sweet for me, but the kids loved them! Yummy!! __________ "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."

Carbons Golden Malted waffle makers are built like a tank. I bought a used one several years ago for our Masonic Lodge. You see these in hotels that serve continental breakfasts and they are the real deal..not cheap though, but they’ll last a life time.

Ten years ago I bought a Waring WMK600 double waffle maker from Amazon. I might have seen it recommended here. I just looked to check availability and it's now $368.00. I know I paid under $100 at the time, just crazy. "Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.
