Looks like he was smart and had it in a holster.

Then he pulled it out still in the holster and didn't get a chance to remove it from the holster.
Close call.

Damn Eek. They were lucky that gun didn't fire, but pretty good reaction by that cop and the LP...the LP especially. That dude is a stud. I love the kick to the balls, too...I hope that hurt.

Amazing what people do. As if shooting the cop was going to make all the problems go away.

Kid's lucky he didn't get the top of his head turned inside out.

I’m trying to figure why it took the LP guy so long to get back up after he let go of the little shithead. Almost like he got the wind knocked out of him for a second. Thank god that asshole didn’t have his holster anchored to his pants.

Unbelievable. So much fail, starting with failure to secure and search the subject.

Another young life thrown away to rot in places that are bloody awful.

Of late I wonder when I see these stories if a man stepped in to guide that lad toward a real life would it make any difference?

Tunstall and Chisum faced that head on.

I got a sense that the only reason the cop didn't pop the little shit is because the LP guy was too close.

Lots of split second judgement calls there, and some trust. The officer came back with his gun out and probably could have articulated why he felt the need to shoot the kid. Could have ended the whole thing quickly and decisively (not to mention messily) and likely justified it.

Instead, he continued to cover, but didn’t fire while the LP guy fought for the gun. When the gun left the kid’s hands, it looked like the LP went after the gun and the officer holstered up and went after the kid.

The thinking here was very clearly NOT “Can I shoot?” but instead “Do I HAVE to shoot?”

I’m not sure it could have turned out better once it got to the point of the kid drawing.

I thought the holster came out with the draw. Slowing it down, I think it’s got a red dot sight and a WML on the front. Also, after reading more comments, I think the LP guy was securing the dipshits gun. That’s why he didn’t get back up immediately.

When I was 20 and went into Loss Prevention with JCPenney, every shoplifter was handcuffed and searched. I am so mad that somehow I lost a “Best Of” video collection I had of some crazy stuff we had happen. Crazy fights, guns pulled on us, a shoplifter kicked the cop in the nuts, etc. we had a display case of all the weapons we took off of people. Absolutely no way would I have ever had them sitting there not in handcuffs and not searched.
