I am once again an Omega Seamaster owner.

Some of you guys already know I am a big enthusiast of micro brand watch companies such as Helm, Zelos, Phoibos, Geckota and Steinhart. With micro brands you get a fairly good amount of bang for your buck and interesting experiments in style and design.

As my watch collection grew I became increasingly fond of automatic mechanical chronographs, glossy black dials and dive watches.

Omega recently released a new version of the Omega Seamaster Professional Chronograph and it is a work of art. Sadly, unlike this previous generation Seamaster, which is available in 41.5mm & 44mm wide cases the new Seamaster is only available in 44mm. It brings a new in-house movement to the table and a lot of nice improvements such as the return of the wave dial and a display case back to showcase the movement (which looks a little like a jet engine turbine) along with unique functions within the movement but the size was a deal breaker.

This appropriate sized version uses the Omega caliber 3330 which is basically a HIGHLY modified Valjoux 7753 with the addition of a column wheel, co-axial escapement, Si14 silicon balance spring & COSC certification. Being based off a robust workhorse movement from the 1970’s is pretty cool. I love designs that can withstand the rest of time and the Valjoux 775x series of movements has definitely withstood the test of time brilliantly.

The scalloped bezel on this is thicker than the standard Seamaster and the scalloped cut outs are larger so ultimately you get a bezel that looks and feels MUCH better than the 3 hand Seamaster. This one is noticeably easier to grip and turn.

Other than a Sinn 203 & 206 Arktis and maybe a Tudor Pelagos my watch collection is complete.

Superb brushing and polishing!

I love the blue/turquoise lume and green lume on the minute hand and bezel pip.

Gorgeous watch. I've always wanted an Omega but I guess there are things I want more.

Outstanding! Good for you. How about a shot of the display back.

Very nice, it'd be a Speedmaster over a Seamaster for me.

Mine has the classic solid steel seahorse caseback. The new version gets the display case back and stunningly beautiful movement and unfortunately a 44mm case to house it. It was one of the few compromises I made when deciding on the previous Gen over the new generation. Ultimately the red Chronograph hands, 3 sub dials and smaller case shape sealed the deal.

The new version is a true work of art but it’s bigger and Omega isn’t splashing any red on that black dial yet. Here’s to hoping a smaller version or at least some more color is added to the dial in the future.

Son of a gun that is beautiful!

I’ve been coveting and trying to talk myself out of buying a very similar Omega for sometime…gorgeous!

Very nice!

Mine is the new version, 8800 calibre, Master Chronometer, minus the chrono functions, in 42mm. It has the blue dial. Can you say "Bond, James Bond." Smile It fits me perfectly. You have a very nice watch there!
