Concealed carry permit holder fatally shoots armed woman outside north Tulsa shopping center

By Stetson Payne
Tulsa World 15 hrs ago

A concealed carry permit holder fatally shot a woman outside a north Tulsa shopping center Friday evening after she reportedly opened fire on customers.

Tulsa Police responded about 6:30 p.m. Friday to the 5300 block of North Peoria Avenue for a reported shooting. A woman was found dead at the scene, according to a news release. She has not been identified as of Friday night.

A man with a concealed carry permit reportedly told arriving officers that he shot the woman after she started shooting at customers outside the shopping center.

Video reportedly showed the woman was involved in an earlier altercation in the parking lot. The woman left the shopping center and returned about three minutes later, when she pulled a gun and opened fire, according to the news release.

The concealed carry permit holder reportedly returned fire and was later questioned and released at the department's detective division.

The shooting is Tulsa's 13th homicide of 2020.

It's still a homicide. Homicide ≠ murder.

“Homicide” is simply one of the common five “manners” of death, and means the killing of one person by another. It’s not automatically a crime.

The other manners of death in must jurisdictions are suicide, natural, accidental, and undetermined.

It would likely be determined by prosecutors to be a Justified Homicide. Read online the OK Revised Statutes for definitions of Justification.

"JUSTIFIED" should be a category.

Justification is determined by prosecutors and/or a jury, not the medical examiner who determines manner of death.

No category for "Here, hold my beer...."?

Or does that fall under "natural" as an expected part of evolution?

This. North Tulsa is a place to stay away from.

Fortunately the deceased woman shooter evidently wasn’t a very skilled marksman person.

Another statistic of a gun saving lives that will be overlooked in favor of the agenda that they only take them. I’d be interested in learning more about the “altercation” that led to the shooting.

It is not a good story and it did not have a happy ending. While it is certainly good that more lives were not lost, a life was still lost.

Further, the CCW carrier will have to come to terms with the fact that he took a life, the other shoppers nd store employees will be traumatized for some time to come, the woman who is now dead probably has some family and was probably not a hardened criminal but rather someone with mental health problems.

We in the firearms community tend to celebrate these incidents. It does not reflect well on us.
