If you see me running try to keep up |
I am ready to dump AT&T (after 20 plus years) due to the high cost, I am down to these two and wanted to see if anyone is using either of these two providers.

Mint here. Coverage = T-Mobile service area. Saves quite a bit of dough.

Not on your short list but I dumped Verizon and went with Visible (I think it is owned by Verizon -same network). $25/month for same service and coverage I had for $86/month. Over a year and no issues. ------------------- "Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered his last round.

I had Verizon since I've had a phone, but moved to Mint a year ago. $30/month for 2 lines when Verizon was $100. You can't beat it and the service is great in the city. Patriot is out, I read up and overall they seem to had more bad reviews than good. I will look at some of these others mentioned.

Careful with this. Be sure to read the Fine Print. MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) often don't provide everything the service upon which they operate does. E.g.: T-Mobile has roaming agreements with AT&T. While increasingly unnecessary, as TMO builds-out its own network, sometimes that roaming is needed. MVNOs often don't get that roaming. You could probably switch straight to T-Mobile and realize a significant savings. (Personally, I feel AT&T is probably the worst, most incompetent TelCom and network provider in the U.S., bar none. I celebrated when I finally got my older employer off them and again when I dumped them at home. And, just so y'all know: The thing that calls itself "AT&T" these days ain't your daddy's AT&T. It's really SBC, renamed "AT&T.") "America is at that awkward stage. Another relatively satisfied Mint mobile user here. The only complaint is when going oconus it can get quite expensive. We’re on the Verizon network and for the price you can’t beat it. ------------------ Eddie Our Founding Fathers were men who understood that the right thing is not necessarily the written thing. -kkina

Been on Mint now for almost two years after having been on T-Mobile for many years. Bill dropped to $17/month (4gb data). I'm very satisfied with the service thus far. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. I can give Mint a big thumbs up. Needed a separate phone for work on my dime and went with Mint. It’s just as simple as they advertise and works really well around here (DC/Baltimore Metro). -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

That's one of those downfalls with (some?) MVNOs. My wife and I have free roaming in Canada (and a couple others, I think?). We do buy an "X days" data package when we go to Europe, but even that's not necessary. Roaming on TMO in Europe is free, too. "America is at that awkward stage. Matter of fact, I updated my plan for our next renewal and it is now even less expensive.

We had Mint, needed to change for reasons unrelated to service or cost. On the few occasions that we had to deal with their customer service, they were absolutely great! Not at all like AT&T, Verizon, or the now-defunct Sprint, all of whom were horrible. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

If you're a veteran, check on the T-Mobile veterans discount. It can save a fair amount of $$. ________________________________________________ "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. We were on ATT for over 20 years and just switched to Consumer Cellular while keeping our own phones. Bill was cut by over 1oo dollars a month. No difference in coverage for our area. Works great! If your on AARP they discount even more. phil

I have 4 lines with Mint... been with them a couple of years now. Never a single problem.

I have tried to investigate T-Mobile a few times. I have AT&T. I have four (teen/adult) kids who are on my plan. So 6 lines, plus I'll probably be adding a cellular smart watch soon -- so seven. Their online tool won't give me a quote on that. When I call, the various ethnic voice can't seem to work it up and communicate well. So I've done nothing. I do get a 24% discount due to my employer. So I'm about $216 for 6 lines currently. Anyone know if these plans will really save me. I'd consider changing, but prob not for $10 a month. My experience with AT&T has not been bad. Not at all.

Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best |
We recently switched to Mint. We've been Republic Wireless customers for 8 years, and were very happy with them until recently, when Dish Network bought them out. Dish required everyone to get a new sim card (I think that was partially due to the Dish takeover, and partially due to them forcing everyone to 5G), and I went though that process and it was nothing but trouble...I stopped being able to make or receive calls, texting was intermittent, and the support was worthless. My BIL had been on Mint for about a year, so we decided to switch to that. The transition was a pain. TMobile sucks in our area, so wifi calling was an important feature, but setting that up was a headache and it's still not working reliably. Initially we were still having issues receiving calls....the phone would ring but when you'd answer it, you couldn't hear anyone on the other end or vice versa. Most texts wouldn't send or download, even over wifi, and forget about mms messages or photos. We thought it might be our phones, since we had brought over our existing phones from Republic (they were listed as compatible). I bought my wife a new phone, but the issues continued. My wife spent an hour on the phone with tech support and they did some stuff on their end, and had us reset some things on our end, and we are working ok now. The TMobile network still sucks, but at least we can make and receive calls in our house over wifi now. If I walk two blocks down the street, there's no service. It's not awesome, but I'm not willing to pay over $100/month for Verizon. It kind of pisses me off that Republic went from a perfectly acceptable and affordable solution to an utter POS overnight thanks to Dish taking over, but I guess that's the way of things. The last month or so has had me wondering if I might be better off dumping the phone altogether and just living life without one.

Consider it this way. Mint's Unlimited plan (riding on T-Mobile's network) is $30/line. So 6x$30=$180/month. I'll guarantee you, if you do some research into usage, you'll find you don't need unlimited data on many of your lines. Because I work so much from home or one other location currently, both with very good WiFi, my data usage is minimal, so I can easily get away with Mint's least expensive 4gb/month plan I pay $17/month total for. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom.
