I have family in Tampa, Florida every winter- yup, they’re snowbirds with property there since the 70s and my parents are getting to the age where they can’t do all the yardwork themselves. Can you please recommend a reliable responsible company or crew that might assist them with downed tree branches, clearing debris off roofs, general pickup?
My folks are not necessarily looking for regular yard maintenance, just a tidying up after being gone this summer, and the yard is original Tampa, not a groomed or maintained lawn. It’s in Hillsborough. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

My contacts are in CFL, I'd have them ask the neighbors, or if they are in an HOA, check with the association. Best bet if they find a local crew that works a few homes in the same area, then it might be easier to hire them if they are in the area.

They might want to contract with a crew all year, someone who'll take care of it while they are up north, mow, trim, edge, weed so they don't come down to a project at this stage of life.

Most want to be doing your yard all the time, cost goes up for special projects since these guys run a set schedule to get the cuts done on time, running from client to client...

I understand. Thanks for your response.. they are understandably a little leery of being taken advantage of as they fit all the Medicare age criteria and the local guy they’ve always relied on isn’t that young either.

They need help, but my dad has always been able to do it himself, or with minimal help from friends, and he is really struggling with asking anyone outside for help that he doesn’t know personally.

Being 1000s of miles away, I’m here wringing my hands and hoping he doesn’t throw his back out because he was too proud to ask.

My bro lives in the Forest Hills area on Babe Zaharias Golf Course, is that nearby? If so, I will ask him who he uses- I know it’s not a large name company, it’s someone he went to school with that is honest and does him right.

It looks like about 20 minutes from the course. I’d sure appreciate it.

Bad news. Bro says his lawn care guy actually isn’t in the residential business-he only does Chuck’s because Chuck is disabled and they have known each other since high school. I called his neighbor a few down and she said she pays the neighbor and was no help. And his other neighbors either mow themselves or use “some guy”...

Sorry, thought I would at least get you in the right direction.

If your parents cannot find a person or crew that they feel comfortable with, I would be more than happy to drive down and take care of anything they need fixed, cut or removed.

My parents now live in the Fruitland Park/Leesburg area and my sister is just outside of St. Petersburg, so it would be a great trip.

Since I just was let go of my job on Friday it would give me a chance to stretch my legs and do some work for once, and then I can stop and see my parents and do a lot of fishing with my dad.

Just food for thought.
I would have to charge them though--> A cup of Wawa coffee and pretzel.

Thank you so much for offering, but that’s quite a trip to remove downed branches! I’m very sorry to hear about the job situation. I will see what they’ve found out, but I think you’d deserve a touch more than coffee and a pretzel if it worked out.

Thank you all again.
