David - If you have a window with a 110/120 plug within six feet you could drop you a 12,000 btu window unit into that window for about $200.00 - $250.00.

My wife and I like to go on cruises.
While on those cruises I will get up before the butt crack of dawn and go on the upper deck forward to take sunrise pictures.

One year I noticed a gentleman sleeping on one of the sun loungers wrapped in pool towels. I thought to my self, someone was already in trouble with the wife because it was on the first morning at sea.

Over the next several days I noticed him every morning when I went up to take sunrise pictures.
At one point I mentioned it to a bartender I knew and he said it was not uncommon for people to sleep on their veranda, and if they did not have one (in an inside state room) they would sleep up on deck.

We sail in either November/December or April/May and the weather in the Caribbean was very comfortable for sleeping outside.

Prior to air conditioning,
My dad found a 20 inch by 20 inch diameter squirrel cage type fan for almost nothing.

And got a 3/4 h.p. electric motor at cost.

He put them together at one end of the house blowing out a window.

And that drew tons of air through all the open windows in our shotgun shack, story and a half house.

He had to experiment with the pulley wheels a bit.

The first set he tried sucked the plastic window clean out of the front storm door.
Big Grin

It worked Great!
