Maybe for the rest of the week. It is just too darn hot. August can be like this. I got a big lawn chair lounge folded back, my big pillow and will see if my tiger kitty wants to sleep by me. Hope the mosquitos let me be now.. Big Grin

I'd sleep with 6 fans running before I would sleep on my porch. Too many questionable people wondering around where I live.

My luck, if not the human critters, a skunk would visit while I'm out there, lol.

I take it you don't have AC.

Between the mosquitos and the dumbasses with straight pipes, or missing catalytic converters, it would be impossible to sleep on the porch.

I would seriously look into investing in central air, or at a minimum, an evaporative cooler.

You can pick up portable evaporative coolers fairly cheap.

If he's from KY, as his location seems to imply, it's probably just as humid as here in Indiana, and possibly worse. An evaporative cooler isn't going to help at all in this climate...a window A/C unit in the bedroom could make a huge difference, though.

We had awesome weather the last couple of weeks and then somehow yesterday it became hot as balls, and is supposed to continue through the rest of the week. Energy prices have been killing me this summer so we haven't run the A/C much, but I broke down and turned it on Saturday night. This crap is unbearable.

It sounds very peaceful.
We have a screen house with a cot in it. Haven’t used it for sleeping yet, but I think it would be perfect..
No, we don’t have ac in our house.

It didn't last too many hours. Lawn chair is not comfy. The 9 pound kitty tried to sleep on my tummy. Can't breath good like that. He curled up beside me. Next 3 days, Tuesday through Thursday are 97 degrees. Hotter in the sun. Definitely use a fan the rest of the week.

I live on the Gulf Coast. I would not live here without A/C. I did not have it as a child in the Midwest and it was miserable.

I only have window AC in bedrooms only. Keeping them about 78F and with small table top fan. Just enought to keep humitidy tolerable. Slight breeze to help with comfort level.

Is a window AC unit a viable option?

Good luck David Lee.

I just checked the wx here in Temple TX and it’s not gonna be 100° + today and I’m super excited. In fact when I got back from dropping off the Tomminator at school at 0700, I came home and mowed because it was only 75°. All my chores are done so I’m on the couch in the AC

Same here... but then it will get better.
Our bedrooms are upstairs and it gets hot up there.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Current dew point here in the Yoop is 73. Nasty. But the rest of the week looks better.

Sounds like a small window AC would be nice for your bed room, David.

The old place has central air but that's not been used in years. I think it will cool down some after this week. The outside temp is not bad once nightfall comes.

Because it doesn't work? Or just because you didn't want to use it?

If the latter, you might at least try firing it up. You'll just want to swap the filter for a new one, and probably rinse off the dirt and debris from the outside unit.

This would be a great day for a drive out to Presque Isle and a jump into Lake Superior. Wish I was up there!

If it is cooler outside than inside at night, use two box fans in two windows; one for forced inlet air, and the other for outlet air. Not A.C., but this setup works reasonably well given the circumstances.

Good lord I would have A/C even if I had a little place to myself in Northern Alaska. Kentucky in the summer……..I’m not saying I would sell a homeless man’s organs for A/C……….but I’m not saying I wouldn’t either. Razz

I agree with oddball. Get a nice crossflow of cooler air.
