How about scuba diving? Take an intro course to see if you like it with little up-front investment. Then it takes a short time to get certified.

South Korea is not a well-known dive location, but you can take the skills you learn there and dive just about anywhere in the world.

Build a boat. These folks supply kits to local maritime museums who host family build a boat weekends. They start building on Friday and launch them on Sunday.
