So my schedule for the next 14 months and possibly more is a steady dose of 15-12 hour days a month. Days and nights rotating. Which leaves me a LOT of spare time. Especially on night shift as I maintain the schedule on off sets. I quit drinking a while back and that has made me realize I am pretty boring. Because of my location I can't shoot or even have firearms here so outside of just looking and browsing at firearms I'm SOL. I have taken up reading to pass the time. Well now I am up to almost a book a day in my off time. I'm healthy and working out regularly, I don't think my body needs more time working out so that one may not be a good one. Outside of exercise and reading, anyone have ANYTHING they would recommend. Bonus if I can make money or break even on it but not a deal breaker. ETA: I've also recently started taking more online courses for college credits. I max out free tuition assistance and other means I'm afforded but those are just for extra degrees as I don't PLAN on starting any careers once I retire from the NAVY. But I might as well not waste the time now. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

Start a YouTube channel eating various food at various locations, even outdoors in the wild. You can make money on YouTube that way. My wife, who is Korean, loves watching these folks' eating shows on YouTube. Q

Me neither. I keep telling my wife, why watch people eat. Go eat some real food and enjoy. But, these channels get tons of followers. I guess there are food porn addicts out there. Q

Good for you for letting the booze go, I did that about 5 years ago and it caused me a WONDERFUL re-set in my life. I have always had a love affair for the guitar, but with booze, it just was an impossible task. Life was...... Now I am having the time of my life. Got any interest in Music?

I am not musically inclined at ALL, can't keep a tune, never been able to play instruments or be half decent at anything music related. I'm flat out bad at it, can't dance either for that matter lol. 10 years to retirement! Just waiting!

Don't know if its possible for you but when wife passed many years back I had several hobbies and they all failed me. Took up raising vegetables at a friend insistence. He sold at local farmers market and got me hooked. Been at it for last few years and its pushed the costing hobbies to the back burner and the produce I sell is paying quite well.

I am a big fan of hobbies. I love the idea but I never seem to have he time or inclination to actually do them. Reloading. have all the stuff and dont do it. Leather working... have all the tools and never do it. Paracord... you get the idea. I thought about designing stickers and patches etc too. How much room do you have? budget? etc. A lot of hobbies need space and money!!! you need to find something that you have an aptitude for.

How about archery? A google search shows an archery cafe in Seoul. Get a nice recurve bow. While I use a compound, I shoot almost every day.

I suppose you could call that a hobby … Having said that, I'll put out model making and RC aircraft or cars. You may think of Legos as a kid's toy, but I've seen some pretty amazing stuff built out of them. I kind of like the idea of a Lego Titanic and a Lego iceberg. As for the RC aircraft, they do some amazing stuff with modern electric motors, which are quiet and don't have the hassles of glow fuel engines.

Grumpy, You definately have skills. Others do not. I attempted to carve a swan from a large bar of soap. The totally botched result looked like a pickle. Kudos to you.

^^^^^ Building on egregore’s post, try RC Helicopters. You can start out on small ones that don’t require a lot of space and build up as your skill progresses and your budget allows. "If you’re a leader, you lead the way. Not just on the easy ones; you take the tough ones too…” – MAJ Richard D. Winters (1918-2011), E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel." - Isaiah 5:20,24

Hobbies are funny things. You won't really know if you'll like something until you try it. Can be expensive in some cases. I went from motorcycles to snowmobiles and then spent 45 years drag racing. The racing was great but as I've aged it was time to move on from that. Now I too am looking to find a new "thing". Tried golf but it was WAY to exciting for me...........LOL. Rather watch paint dry.

I'd second model building and add dioramas. They can be as large or small as you like and there's no end to the subject matter or the amount of detail you can include. Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

Well, you are on a gun forum, so I recommend handloading. I started a few years ago and went at it with a fury, especially handloading for rifles the first few years. It's amazing how many different "recipes" you can create which you'll never get off the shelf. You certainly won't save any money over buying off the shelf, though, as you'll buy a lot of different bullets, powder, etc., and you'll shoot more.
