I’d probably try finding something antique or specific to the area to collect
Do they have pawn shops or equivalent ?
Are yard sales/ estates sales a thing?

I’m a collector/accumulator of many things and change interests often
Knives/edged weapons an option there?

I quit school in elementary because of recess.......too many games

Believe it or not new laws in Korea regulate any knife over 6 cm as far as I know. Means anything longer than about 2.5" is considered a sword.

I enjoy shopping and collecting things but you have to be very careful here, the Chinese knock off market is HUGE.

I'm going to look into HAM radios and woodworking. I'll let my wife have photography. I think both radios and woodworking would be very useful skills to learn.

Learn a new language. Is there a big brother type program that you could join to help troubled kids? Volunteer work. Raise a garden. Computer programming. Build websites. Art classes. Become a certified professional coach. Design t shirts and bumper stickers and sell them online. Hike. Camp. Take cooking classes. Online classes. Train for a half marathon. CrossFit. Golf. Tennis. Mission work. Make holsters leather or kydex. Photography.

If you get interested in hand tool woodworking, there is a company called "Lost Arts Press" that publishes a bunch of beautiful, excellent books, both old, previously out-of-print ones and new ones, on traditional hand tool fine woodworking. Their blog has a ton of great information, too.

https://blog.lostartpress.com/

It was founded by a woodworker who wanted to publish his own books with very high-quality binding in the USA and couldn't find a reasonable existing publisher to work with.

I have almost everything they have published, and both the content and the actual, physical books themselves are phenomenal. Most of them can be purchased as eBooks (or eBook+print) as well.

They have stuff I haven't found anywhere else, like a book on how to make mouldings the traditional way, with a set of moulding planes.

Well, since you said "Please".

I ventured into the arena of board gaming after I introduced my young nephews to computer games and then couldn't get them off the computers.

When I say "board games", it's not quite what it sounds like. I'm not really talking Monopoly. I'm talking about games like Terraforming Mars, 7 Wonders, Castles of Burgundy, Concordia, or basically games most have never heard of in the U.S. game market, although Target and others have begun to carry some of them.

There are thousands of Non-Monopoly games out there, from 1+ player games through 8+ group games.
They can be social, fun, brain racking experiences where you experience analysis paralysis (over thinking the variety of possible moves).
There may even be a game group in your area that meets regularly if you would like try it out.

As in most everything, there is a popular website to learn more.

So far what I’ve got is...

1. Enrolled in college
2. Maintaining my korean language proficiency. Currently a solid 2/2.
3. I read everyday, 2-3 books a week or up to 5 depending on how many days I work.
4. Got some very basic hand tools incoming to learn some woodworking and hopefully find a good couple projects I could sell off.
5. Got an Edge Pro Apex kit incoming to learn how to properly sharpen a blade.

3.5 year old twins and a 3.5 month old in the house and I should be set I suppose.

Crazy how inefficient drinking makes us. I used to not do shit.

Check out digi scoping,
You can use it with your cellphone or point and shoot camera or
go high end with a DSLR camera.

Some choose birds ,others Flora and fauna, others, architecture ,
They use it to train spot, or plane spot.

It does not seem to be an endless Money pit

The vast majority of us know very little about Korea as it is now.
AN arty photo book with descriptive captions could be a good seller.
I know someone who went to Japan, took B&W photos of radishes and stuff and made money on the book; she had just started photography.
Nowadays publishing a book is very easy (apparently).
One thing I (think I) know about Korea is that it is a predominantly Christian nation, with vast numbers of churche. I’ve read/heard there are more Korean missionaries than those from any other country.
Why is that?
In addition to the Korean War we know about, Korea has had a fraught relationship with Japan which continues to this day.
You’re there, speak (and write??) Korean; things you take for granted might be very interesting to Westerners.
How did Korea go from being a pre-industrial country to a manufacturing giant?
How strong is Korea militarily? Does it cooperate with Japan in military exercises?
What is the history and future of US military presence in S. Korea?
Then there is so much hardly anyone knows about N Korea. Surely there are “defectors” who have fascinating stories to tell?

You have a quite unique opportunity to learn about the country, society, and culture around you and interpret it for us in the West who would like to know more.

Any places to get decent watches at a decent price? Since guns and reloading is out of the picture. Start collecting, buying/trading, or even building watches.

I love playing disc golf. The cost of entry is pretty low and it is a form of low intensity exercise.

It is just as frustrating as ball golf just cheaper.

They have some incredible markets here and you can go as high end as you want if you visit Gangnam. However, I am weary of buying anything that costs a premium here as Chinese knock offs are EVeRYWHERE. Even on items I’m very familiar with I still just order from reputable folks.

With Covid we were actually limited on travel so thankfully that ends today and I plan on getting out more and checking out the markets I haven’t been to yet.

If you are not going seriously consider AA or similar group. Statistics for sustained recovery are much higher. Hobbies such as gambling, taking drugs, and womanizing are not generally recomemded.

Q!!!

I’m in school for the second degree, working on bettering my korean, reading 2-3 book a week and raising 6 kids!

I’m still bored. Just a testament to the amount of time wasted by drinking. Now that I don’t I have so much more time to devote.

I’ve actually settled on bettering myself physically. Going to the gym 6 days a week instead of 2-3. 25-30 miles a week running and working out also.

I wish I could devote more time to shooting or building our homestead but it’s not to be at this time.

Hope you are doing well!
