Always in a holster. It helps protect the gun, covers the trigger, and keeps the pistol more consistently oriented in the pocket for an easier grip and draw. It breaks up the outline of the gun, too, which helps with concealment. It also weighs next to nothing and takes up very little space...lots of positives to using a holster, pretty much zero negatives.

I tried the no holster thing, the gun would shift in the pocket, at one point rotating enough to be pointing at my junk, no, don't want to be on the news for that event....

Holster is the way to go for everything Mr. 92fstech said, position, pattern, grip...

Thanks for the picture, now I need a pocket revolver again...

I'm sure many of you may already have this knowledge "in your pocket", but I didn't, and I think it brings some value to the subject of CC for some carriers that goes well beyond "better to have a small gun than no gun at all". The video is 10 mins with an intro by a master class shooter/instructor, followed by Lucky Gunner's Chris Baker's comments.

I bet some of us may not be aware of this information and perspective in the same way that I was not either, and would like to hear your guys thoughts about this particular subject.

If you just discovered this content creator/channel...dude, get ready.

When he was more active, Baker was a regular of mine. He has a whole lot of content on unconventional carry, non-permissive environment carry, mouse guns, revolvers.

This was my first exposure to a serious shooter and student of shooting saying "you know, not everybody can or should carry a fullsize duty pistol and two spare magazines on the hips, and the J-frame is terrible - what else is out there?" Tons of great content.

It better be enough gun!

For LEO's that absolutely makes a lot of sense, most of us, at least myself and others like me, we don't go looking for bad guys, and don't get into areas where we're likely to be accosted…

Whoa!!!!
Im not advocating for ANYONE to go looking for trouble with any sort of pistol, especially a pocket gun!

That stuff is to get you OUT OF TROUBLE!

I was poised a question years ago by a friend who’s a pretty good instructor and has been on both ends of a gun far, far more times than I would ever want to be.
I also brought up the question here years ago-

“Tomorrow at 2:00pm, I am going to rob you at the corner gas station as you’re filling up. What gun are you bringing?”

It made me think.
Here you are, knowing the time and location of when it’s gonna go down, it takes some of the “surprise” out of it.
With that information given, is the gun you’re going to bring different than what’s in your waistband / pocket today?

Don’t get me wrong, if I got to make a quick trip to the gas station, store, going to the park in a pair of shorts and t shirt, yeah, Im probably slipping a .380 Ruger LCP or a Seecamp in the pocket. And I know it’s not “enough gun”.

My P365XL. I shoot it better than I shoot an M17 because I shoot the ever-loving piss out of both of mine.
