Over 40 shots fired by both sides.

Bad guys didn't even get a block away before crashing.

Two of three attackers dead, one on scene, the other at hospital, with the third currently in surgery.
Police are saying it looks like legitimate self-defense.

Homeowner used an AR-15.

HOUSTON – Two men are dead after a drive-by shooting in North Houston early Saturday morning, but it was those shooting from inside the car who were killed.

HPD said around 2:40 a.m., a homeowner was in the front yard of his home located at the 400 block of Glenburnie Drive when a maroon Nissan Altima with three men drove by and began shooting. That’s when the homeowner started shooting back at the vehicle, causing it to crash down the street.

Police say the men got out of the car and continued to exchange gunfire with the man. Two of the men in the Altima were killed in the shooting, while another was taken to Ben Taub Hospital and is in stable condition.

The homeowner was not hurt in the incident.

The scene is still under investigation.

If legit self-defense, I say buy the guy beer.

ETA: I looked for more on this.

Apparently, the deceased and the homeowner had some sort of beef. The bad guys tried to set fire to the house the day before.

There is other information suggesting the homeowner used a handgun, but it is inconclusive.

It happened at 400 Glenburnie Dr. Houston, TX 77022. Google Maps shows it is middle class suburbia.

Well, anyone has a right to defend himself against an assault, but I nevertheless can’t help but wonder why the victim happened to be standing outside with a rifle in the wee hours of the morning and why he was targeted for a drive-by. Odd to say the least.

Who the hell is outside on their lawn, before dawn, holding an AR-15?

Something was supposed to go down...

Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed.
Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists.
Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

About the 0:49 mark in the above video is an evidence marker (#2) and a cartridge case on the ground. The casing doesn’t look like something that comes from any handgun I’m familiar with except one based on an AR or similar platform.

People have been pulling furniture, clothing, valuables, that are still good on their front lawns to pull put carpet and drywall etc. Criminals have been coming by at night stealing what ever they can. So people have been guarding their possessions at night so they don't get stolen, all the scum is out to get what ever they can, some neighborhoods have started their own guards on street entrances.

More than 40 rounds fired by the 3 Caballeros, probably all from handguns.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

The homeowner had an AR-15. He was, apparently, expecting trouble from the attackers and was prepared for a confrontation, but I never heard any explanation of the nature of the relationship or the source of the trouble. He shot them up very effectively. He wasn't arrested to my memory.

That is a lower-income working neighborhood. Not a truly bad part of town, but not the best.

If it was a 10mm, the channel cut into the ground by its passing would have prevented the flooding.

Thanks. I originally interpreted the extractor groove as the shoulder and neck. I agree that it is evidently handgun round case.
