Mom shares hilarious before-after photos of daughter’s first day of school Login/Join

Those of you with children should get a chuckle out of this. Pretty typical look when you pick them up at the end of the day.

NEILSTON, Scotland – A Scottish mother has perfectly captured how draining a child’s first day back at school can be.

Jillian Falconer, of Neilston, couldn’t resist sharing a side-by-side comparison of what her 5-year-old daughter Lucy looked like before – and after– her first day at school.

(Courtesy: Jillian Falconer)

Lucy left the house tidily dressed, her tie perfectly knotted and tucked into the waistband of her skirt, her hair brushed and her socks pulled up to her knees.

“When I went to pick her up from school and saw how she looked, I was mortified,” Falconer told local newspaper Barrhead News.

Lucy’s wide smile was gone, her hair tangled and wild, tie loosened and her jacket slipping off one shoulder.

Falconer told the paper she took the photo as Lucy got her bag out of the car and started walking toward her.

“Her dad had messaged me from work, asking how her first day went, and I said to him ‘You won’t believe the state she’s in.'”

When asked how she ended up looking that way, Lucy just told her mom “that she had a great day at school” playing with friends.

The twisted side of me can see the girl walking through the front door, pouring a scotch, sitting on the couch while turning the TV on, putting her feet up on the coffee table, and proceeding to tell her mother what a rough day on the play ground and jungle gym it was. Big Grin

Glad little Lucy had a good first day of school. Great pic and story, thanks for sharing!

LoL.... I see a lot of that. Neat, clean big smiles in the morning. Disheveled, with a shell shocked look on the face and the look of a week long bender in the afternoon.

Those cute photos reminded me of the story about the teacher who was helping one of her kindergarten students put his boots on.

He asked for help and she could see why. With her pulling and him pushing, the boots still didn't want to go on. When the second boot was on, she had worked up a sweat. She almost whimpered when the little boy said, "Teacher, they're on the wrong feet."

She looked, and sure enough, they were. It wasn't any easier pulling the boots off than it was putting them on. She managed to keep her cool as together they worked to get the boots back on - this time on the right feet.

He then announced, "These aren't my boots."

She bit her tongue rather than get right in his face and scream, "Why didn't you say so?" like she wanted to do. Once again she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off.

He then said, "They're my brother's boots. My Mom made me wear them."

She didn't know if she should laugh or cry. She than mustered up the grace to wrestle the boots onto his feet again.

She said, "Now, where are your mittens?"

He said, "I stuffed them in the toes of my boots..."

You're welcome.

Yesterday’s Fox article had a great quote:
quote:
”If they're messy, dirty, clothes disheveled it usually means they've had great fun,” one wise user wrote. “I’ll’ take that over an immaculate child any day!”

My son and I are both laughing our asses off over those pics. His remark was that "at work, sometimes those bastards just wear you down". I guess it starts a young age.

I had that happen on the bus. Four of them, kicking, biting, scratching, slapping, hitting, and hair pulling. It was utter chaos and anarchy. Also, kind of funny....boy they got in trouble when I wrote them up.

Disclaimer:
- I have no kids.
- It has been a long time since I have had a first day at school myself.
- I didn't wear a tie or jacket to school. Just normal USA K-12 etc... (enough about me)

So, in seeing the picture I was pretty horrified. I would be heading in to see the principal, teacher, everyone!

This is normal???
