So with the wide variety of members here there has to be thousands of years of experience.

Share some names for tools, etc. that you have used/heard while working.

For example, in heavy construction (steel erection) a “Tweaker” might be the name for a sledge hammer.

A “rattle can” is an aerosol spray paint can with the little ball in it. - As in “Get that rattle can of black and bring it over here”.

You don’t have to reveal your definition, allowing someone else who knows it to make the best guess down the line.

As in a “Chuck and duck”?

So, dust off the old ones and bring them to light -

At Florida Power and Light we called our phasing volt meter the "Buck Roger's" because it looked so futuristic, used to phase distribution primary volt phases ie; phase-to-phase and phase to ground voltages.

Indeed. As a dirty-fingers technician for my first 10 years or so in the Navy, I always had a tweaker in my shirt pocket. Usually two: the standard metal shaft with yellow plastic handle and pocket clip for general use, and a nylon one for coils/inductors where the metal would screw up the readings.

Just don't buck phases And you'll be OK.

Cadillac tape - We have this special thick nylon tape that is super tough and is used to make surfaces slick so that things glide across it. I once asked why it's called that and someone told me because its expensive and its "the good stuff". The parts room even labels it Cadillac tape on the shelf.

I could use some if that at work. Can you tell me who makes it?

These are the closest thing I can find online that looks like the stuff we use

https://www.amazon.com/TapeCas...nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1

https://www.rockler.com/nylo-t...ee-drawer-slide-tape

I haven't been to work in a month so I cant verify exactly who makes the stuff we have until next week. I know we have accounts with 3M/Uline, so it might be from one of them.
