Got home from work yesterday, spent over two hours washing my car. Left for a bit, it sprinkled rain and I came home to this.

Ended up skipping Cars and Coffee this morning because I didn't want to wash it against 4AM to make 6AM start. Guess I'm washing both vehicles today. Red Face

'Muddy rain' from dust storm in Texas covers cars locally

WEST VIRGINIA (WCHS) — A series of dust storms in Texas earlier this week are the culprit if your car is covered with a filmy layer of mud this evening.

Much of Texas had severe dust storms due to recent dry conditions there and strong winds.

An area of low pressure over Missouri tracking east this evening toward us drew up some of that dust into the atmosphere and transported it into the Ohio Valley this afternoon.

Initially that dust was suspended in the clouds and this system was producing little to no rain ahead of it, so it wasn't noticeable...but when rain showers (and even some small hail) began to reach the ground it helped bring that dust to the surface, coating cars.

While many of us have seen a break in the rain this evening, more is expected overnight. This rain will fall harder and could end up washing the dust off cars...but could also bring more particles down too.

If your car still looks grimy Saturday, don't worry. The weather should be pretty nice for a car wash in the coming days.

I encountered that, much worse, while at Fort Sill in the fall of 1976.

We were nailed with it as well. It only rained for a few minutes in St Louis and the cars looked awful.

Went through Tommy's car wash today due to this. Can you imagine what it must have been like during the Dust Bowl?

Your welcome. Big Grin

Trust me I feel your pain. Storms out of New Mexico and west Texas does the same thing to us in DFW.

How do you get that off without causing fine scratches? Will most of it rinse off first without using a towel or sponge?

I am in Southern Ohio this weekend for a family event not far from West Virginia and it just happened to us here too. Drove out from Pennsylvania with a freshly washed car and came out this morning and it looks like someone had just sprayed our car with muddy water and it all dried on it, WTF

Got hit bigtime in Central Ohio. You can't get near a carwash around here for the lines.

I live outside of Ft Worth and it rained overnight. My Tacoma is parked in the driveway, no dirty rain on it. Big Grin

But the winds this week have been brutal on my allergies.

It was a little weird driving around on Saturday and seeing almost every car you pass covered in dirt.
