Cruised through some antique stores yesterday while visiting family. Found several hunting knives made in Pakistan. I passed, but wondered about the quality. Are knives made in Pakistan any good?

The question isn't so much the steel as the knives: they're shit.

There are usually some Pakistan made damascus steel custom hunting knives at National Gunday. Most have bone handles and are pretty showy. To a casual observer they may look nicer than they really are but they do display well. Price is usually $40-75 but don't make an offer unless you're sure you want to own them.

Manufacturing quality in both India and Pakistan sucks. Their economy usually is capable of making some really shoddy products. Please dont waste your money buy those knives.

A few years ago India made the best 52100 steel available, today China makes the best, they also make the worst. Pretty hard to judge steel solely on the basis of the country where it was made.
