Pakistan-made steel any good? Login/Join

Hello!

Cruised through some antique stores yesterday while visiting family. Found several hunting knives made in Pakistan. I passed, but wondered about the quality. Are knives made in Pakistan any good?

Posting in this section because I think there is more traffic here.

Thank you!

Jim

It only considered metal as it has a single electron in the outer valence.

Nope. Usually made of whatever scrap they have laying around. Most of it is ebay and or gas station junk.

There can be nice stuff make in Pakistan (real Khukris for example) but the price is commensurate with the quality.

The question isn't so much the steel as the knives: they're shit.

Well, if the knives are like the switchblade knife made in India, an Indian co worker gave me years ago, Chinese quality is 2000% better.

There are usually some Pakistan made damascus steel custom hunting knives at National Gunday. Most have bone handles and are pretty showy. To a casual observer they may look nicer than they really are but they do display well. Price is usually $40-75 but don't make an offer unless you're sure you want to own them.

Manufacturing quality in both India and Pakistan sucks. Their economy usually is capable of making some really shoddy products. Please dont waste your money buy those knives.

There may be a good Pakistani-made knife, but I have never seen one.

The steel is crap and the fit and finish are usually worse.

A few years ago India made the best 52100 steel available, today China makes the best, they also make the worst. Pretty hard to judge steel solely on the basis of the country where it was made.
