xd45manSig serial decoder?
First, my apologies for being a failure at using the search feature. I'm just not good at it.
I have a model P229 that I purchased nearly 20 years ago. It is all black but it came with wooden grips. It was my understanding that only elite models came with wooden grips, but my P229 doesn't have a beaver tail. I'm just curious if there was a way to decode my serial number to learn more about my pistol.
Thanks in advance.

squad13Do you have the original box with the SKU sticker still on it?
Post a photo of your P229

slosigDo you have the original box? If so, the model number is listed on the box.

vulrathHave you tried calling SIG to see if they can do a serial number lookup? I'm not sure if they still do it but they used to offer this service for a nominal fee.

xd45man^ It just might. Thanks V-Tail. I'll pull out the old girl when I get home. I'll take some pictures as well. My girl is turning plum on the trigger and hammer. I kind of like it.

arfmelDidn’t you get the decoder ring after you filled out and signed the waiver?

The SKU label tells you exactly what it is. Nothing else to decode. What does it say?

He would have had to change his favorite breakfast cereal. Might have been a deal breaker for me, too.
