That's a bad position they are putting you in. I'm glad you are able to vent here.

I think your plan to hang in and collect your retirement and benefits is a good.

This kind of crap is what really pisses me off. Forget hiring who is the best person for the job regardless of who they are, let’s make quotas to make you hire certain people based on sex or race. A goal or hope is fine, but if they are picking people not as qualified to make those goals then that is discrimination pure and simple.

This is biotech. The breakdown on the goal for "people of color" is 12% black, 10% hispanic, and 14% Asian.

I have no idea how or why they had this breakdown. In the industry meeting the Asian quota is quite easy. After all, Asians are super smart in the STEM fields. We don't have many black people, certainly not 10% overall. However, I have one person that reports to me and that makes me beat the quota because I only have 5 direct reports.

Where do you live that you could have 37% of your workforce POC. The percentage of POC in the U.S. is something like 25%.


We hire every sing POC that applies and we probably have 5%.

Focus your interviews on finding the Caucasian men to fill 50% of senior management positions and 63% of positions overall.

Why?

Because others will interview only women and POC.

Now if you happen to interview a women and/or POC and the person has the requisite knowledge to do the job and you then recommend the candidate be hired, that’s evidence you need to redouble your interviews of Caucasian men.

I wouldn’t be surprised that if a non-POC is unsuccessful in the application/interview process that a discrimination lawsuit isn’t filed, against the company and those involved in the hiring (to include interview panel). Make certain that you keep that email so that it could be used in court.

I don't know about biotech, but I've applied to a lot of places this past year and many of them, I was required to fill out an application in addition to giving them my resume. In the application is all the demographics stuff.
