Wife knows someone that uses and says they work great. Simple and no fees? Anyone?

No experience with that brand. But have used Eufy for years with no issues. No subscription or fees either. You can for a small fee backup your recordings to the cloud, but I keep everything onsite with the Homebase that you have with the Eufy cameras.

I have a few of them. They are WiFi, solar powered, and have been up since last year with zero issues so far. We use them to monitor a commercial piece of property. No fees either. I am thinking about buying another 4 pack of them.
