A few nights ago, I was on the way to the supermarket, and it was just light raining. I was making a left turn at a traffic light, but clearly misjudged and made the turn too soon, ending up jumping the median. The result? Two blown out left side tires. It was about half a mile from home, so I managed to crawl back without further incident. Next morning, took both of them out to the tire shop for replacement and balance. Just a couple of used but still in excellent condition ones. Put them back in the car and was expecting some shaking and things out of alignment, since the hit was violent enough to take out two tires. But, to my pleasant surprise, the ride was so smooth. From zero to 80, zero issue. I'd say, it's smoother than before the accident. So, the moral of the story is, jump the median, if you want a smoother ride. Q

Buy a Powerball ticket as you got lucky. My ex did it, took the oil pan off, and the engine kept running long enough to seize. Were the old tires bad? Did you replace with same tires? Good thing you dont need to take out the other side. NRA Life Member Steak: Rare. Coffee: Black. Bourbon: Neat.

You know, I tried your technique, but did not experience the same results.

Maybe you should go back to scene of the incident and repeat it, but with the right side tires! Imagine how nice it'll drive then!

A couple of years ago I saw a car that had made the turn too soon, ending up straddling the median. The lady had to call a tow truck to pull her car off. I smiled – glad it wasn’t me. Serious about crackers

Several decades ago I took a corner too fast, hit a patch of sand and slammed my left side tires sideways into a curb. Knocked the rear rack over about four inches according to the alignment guy. Afterwards, the car ('88 Rx-7) would corner much better on right handers, and not so well on left handers. Small suspension changes can have big effects on handling.
