Looking to take a trip to vegas and I am wondering what level this class is at. I'm not looking for alternative classes at this time.

I have some 20-30 USPSA and IDPA shoots under my belt and usually rank at the bottom of the top 1/3 of the shooters.
Is this too basic a class?

Also, it has been 3-4 years since I shot any type of competition, I've been limited to a range session every 4 months or so for those years. Is it worth the refresher?

The class cost is going to be minimal to me due to a group purchase.

Thoughts appreciated.
Thanks much

I view any legitimate training as a benefit. Every pull of the trigger counts as learning or training. Since cost is not a factor, attend. You may pick up something new.

I agree with YooperSigs on this, any training by a good trainer, no matter the level is a benefit.

I just took a class that was mostly dry fire, trigger control, sight alignment. I am a very seasoned shooter; it helped me to concentrate on the basics.

It will be worthless to you. Most reports say that they are a very very heavy weaver school, they haven't softened their approach like Gunsite has.

I wouldn't bother even if it was free.

If I were forced to take a gun class in Vegas I would probably spend a day with JJ.

Save your money for a class with OPSEC training.
See the competition and training subforum.

Though its a ways off, we'll be hosting Jerry and OpSpec Training for their Practical Fundamentals class in January just a few hours north of you. I can't think of a better class that Ive ever attended that will do more for your overall shooting ability.

if you are going to be in Vegas anyway, do it. Just keep in mind that Front Site is 60 miles from Vegas. Unless you want to drive it every day, you'll want to stay in Pahrump.

I had fun. The four day should include a night shoot and drawing from concealment.

If it's not too much money/trouble, do it. Otherwise just save your money and time for Opsec or a higher end class.

I've taken a number of classes at Front Sight. Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, Rope and Rappel. I haven't gone anyplace else for training so I can't offer a knowledgeable opinion as to how they compare.

The first four hours of day one is administrative and safety training. You'll start shooting late in the first morning and will be introduced to a series of concepts that culminate in the skills test on day four.

I'm a better gun handler and shooter as a result of the training. The skills test is a challenge for me and most people don't pass it the first time (I didn't).

Four days in Pahrump in the Summer will fry your brain. I won't go there after May and before mid October.

It's a 50 minute drive from the Southpoint Casino Resort to Front Sight. If you stay in Pahrump do an Air BnB, that has worked out really well for us (we usually have at least six of us who go (family and friends).

People get weirded out by the owner, who is a Scientologist named Dr. Ignacious Piazza. I've never met him and don't dig his religion but he's built a first rate training facility. (I spent about 20 years in corporate America with Fortune 100 companies and was exposed to professional trainers, his instructors are good).

They advertise their courses at $1,000 each (or more). If you want to attend I can give you a certificate for the four day course and you'll be rid of that fee. Be warned that if you register with FS you will be besieged with emails offering you membership upgrades with tonnes of incentives. The Certificate I'm offering you was derived from me taking an upgrade.

I'm filled with gratitude for the blessings I've received.
