Perhaps the most ironic thing about all this is that kneeling has been a sign of subservience throughout most of human history. Most of those who are using that posture to demonstrate their opinions today would have a fit if they were required to do anything else that smacked of not being masters of themselves. But of course assuming a subservient posture in this case is absolutely appropriate: They have decided to bow down to bigotry and ignorance.

On the other hand I stood at attention with my head held high, and still do when appropriate, to honor my flag, my country, and things like the organizations I belonged to and the uniform I wore. If someone has no respect for any of those things, then I’m more than content to have them kneeling beside me and beside the others who are not in thrall to dimly-understood and completely unappreciated principles developed by people who wish to take over the thinking for the protestors.

With the rise of 'new media', boycotts have become dynamic and viable. We can now see the effect of a boycott or more precisely, threats to boycott arise the same day some controversy appears.

People awake to news on their Facebook page or whichever sites they use for current events, of some controversy that elicits strong enough reactions from a sufficient number of people to cause the business or whatever to issue a statement by mid-afternoon. I've witnessed this countless times in the past five or so years.

Are we serious about this? If so, no pro football means just that, which means no Superbowl party at your house and you won't attend one if invited elsewhere.

I've been a huge football fan my whole life. I haven't watched a game since the first time Kaepernick kneeled. I also happen to be a lifelong 49er fan due to my dads love of them going back decades before I was born. So it hurt even worse to see this bullshit start with him.

I still keep tabs on individual players that I have respect for and enjoy to watch such as Drew Brees but still haven't watched a live game since this all started. Shitty situation all around.

Ben Roethlisberger on Monday afternoon released a statement saying he regretted his Pittsburgh Steelers boycotting the national anthem on Sunday.

"I was unable to sleep last night and want to share my thoughts and feelings on our team’s decision to remain in the tunnel for the National Anthem yesterday," the Super Bowl-winning QB said in a statement. "The idea was to be unified as a team when so much attention is paid to things dividing our country, but I wish we approached it differently. We did not want to appear divided on the sideline with some standing and some kneeling or sitting.

He continued, "As a team, it was not a protest of the flag or the Anthem. I personally don’t believe the Anthem is ever the time to make any type of protest. For me, and many others on my team and around the league, it is a tribute to those who commit to serve and protect our country, current and past, especially the ones that made the ultimate sacrifice."

Mostly true.... but you still don't have to watch. You can get everything for fantasy football online, without watching a single game.
I've been playing fantasy football since 2001 and it has changed how I watch the game. You are correct about that. Even when I went to games as a season ticket holder I found myself checking stats from other games at the same time.
But, the point is, you don't have to watch the games.

Their claim is that they are protesting the law enforcement involvement with black suspects and the untimate end to them. Their only comment is that they are being killed because of their race...

They haven't bothered to even investigate the facts of that comment. While not all contacts are gems and there are times that they do not fit the standards that should be accepted. The most recent was the shooting in MN. Yet they absolutly downplay the fact that the officer was "fast tracked" into the department because of the insistence of the Somalia community. He might have been a smart guy and the fact he went to college was one reason they claimed he was given the short cut. But I've found college means little unless you have the person suitable to back that up. His conduct and control of the firearm shows a total lack of any competence in the use of a handgun.

Now as far as who is actually being killed in these contacts, they only reference the Black community. Yet in the most up to date database I can find (unfortunately from the Washington Post), 323 White suspects were killed in LE contacts. 164 were Black. So no compassion for the ones actually affected?

Now we can take a look at a sample of what some of the details were in these contacts. This is only the last two weeks.

Yet this idiot made the choice to disrespect the Anthem yesterday. Now he is backpeddling his choice

. Maybe because the backlash he is seeing on Monday, and the praise and respect his teammate Villenueva is getting.

Para is right; these mental midgets are more suited to washing cars than making real decisions. The rest of the idiots (Commissioner, owners, media) simply don't get it; it is 2016 all over again with the elites making the wrong assumptions of what America is really thinking, completely misjudging us again.
