I used to drink Patron, but in the past few years have switched to Hornitas Black Barrel. Its aged 18 months in whiskey barrels. Its not expensive and is the smoothest tequila I've found in its price range.

Well, went to the semi-local liquor store with a list of oft-mentioned tequilas. Saw a few familiar names, but only one exact match.

A nice economic sipper is the Costco Kirkland anejo tequila.

I might get smacked for this but for a cheap good sipper I like Lunazul Resposado. Its actually pretty good.

For a nicer sipper, I love Peligroso Anejo but its gotten quite hard to find lately.
