For around 46 years now my nephew and I have been fishing together. Over that time, we've had lot's of adventures all over Michigan and northern Ontario. We live about 5 hours apart. We get together just to camp and fish a couple times a year. These days, it's more about spending time together and enjoying camp, small town cafes and greasy bar cheeseburgers. But we still catch a bunch of nice fish (and release all but one or two). We had a great 4 days in camp this year.

This was a nice King from a small tributary

Best part of camp is sitting around the fire enjoying the conversation, a little bourbon and a seegar or three.

Already have dates planned for steelhead in the spring.

That's a couple of nice sized fish and beautiful looking spots. Where did y'all fish this year?

Thank you. Water was low, and the rivers cleared out of a lot of trees from the spring floods. We fished the Betsie (lots of spawned out fish), The flys stretch of the Pere Marquette (tons of fish, lots of fresh ones coming up) and a tributary of the Big Manistee (fair numbers of fish and spooky because of the low water).

I love that area. Been taking an annual golf trip there the past few years to escape Houston's summer.

Have you tried Fisher's Happy Hour Tavern on 22 just outside of Northport? First trip we drove by, saw a large late lunch crowd, and decided to give it a try. Now, we dine there every year and love their broasted chicken.

I have not but will add it to places to try when my wife and I are up that way again. Northport is a bit of a drive from where we camp at. If you want to be amazed, try the Boat House at Bowers Harbor. You need reservations well in advance to get a table though. Glen Arbor has some nice spots as well.
