Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
Tesla has bumped the referral bonus to $1,000 for the 3 and the X from $500 and $2000 for everything else. 3 and X lease rates are really good right now taking advantage of the $7500 tax credit. Sadly, Tesla leases are a No No here in Kentucky. However the Honda Prologue lease rates are ridiculously cheap. One can get the base AWD Prologue for like $3k down, under $200 a month for 36 months, with a free home level 2 charger, and credit for install costs. I spend $200+ on gas a month in my Tundra and that is with having a company truck. Wouldn’t mind to have an little EV to zip around town in. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. We have similar taste Bean, we got the exact same car. I steal it from its actual owner when she lets me since I love driving it. I've become the most attentive husband on earth, "What you need parsley for dinner, I'll run and get it", etc. I'm still debating getting the 240 charger since we are actually doing fine on 110 for our purposes but it would be nice I suppose to have the option to have a quick turnaround if needed. We both agree having a truck is still a thing we need but its a great option for us and our usage as a car.

My advice on chargers, if you’re getting the 220, then get the wall mounted hardwired one. It’s $150 more than the plug in one, and I thoroughly regret not buying it. It does charge a bit faster, and for the small extra expense, I should have bought it. The plug in 220 works fine, but I would like to have the additional amperage or miles added per hour of charging. I had the windows tinted last weekend. It’s nice, but the tint is too dark as I went with 20%. I called to ask what it would cost to strip it off and re-tint. They said they would do it at no cost. I’ll leave the back windows at 20%, let them replace the fronts at 35%. Since they’re doing me a solid on the fronts, I’ll pay to have the rear window done and may do the top glass also. If I don’t do the top glass and windshield now, I’ll do them before summer with the most transparent tint they have, just for the heat rejection. It’s surprising how much heat is rejected by nearly clear tint. Once I have the tint complete, I’ll post some pictures. The “lol” thread

It's been a while since I've installed one, but the hard wires one's used to go to 90 or 100a, so you could charge a lot faster than plug in. If your charger is right next to the panel you could charge significantly faster with minimal expense. Whole different story if you have 100' feet of wire to run. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

I wish they would go 90 or 100 amp. They max out at 48 amps output on a 60 amp breaker. I’m sure I could find a different brand of charger at Anixter, but for now I have the $250 invested in the mobile charger, which does the job just fine as it sits overnight. I’ve actually only run the battery down low a couple times since I bought it. Most of my driving is so short I don’t charge it daily. If money were no object I would have a DC fast charger in my garage. Those are very expensive though. The “lol” thread

This one sppears to be the one. I installed a number of them. Something about miles per hour. I used 90a circuits because the wire size for 100a is practically impossible to fit in the tiny frame. There's a selector switch on the inside (non consumer facing portion) where you tell it your breaker size and it will run it at 80% of breaker size. Some guy on a forum passed my name around so I did a bunch in a short duration. They get bragging rights (or at least used to) on how fast they can charge their cars. My information is almost five years old as I no longer work as an electrician, maybe they no longer offer this type of charger to consumers. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis

The battery is as sealed as one can be but batteries are like humans and work best in a fairly narrow temperature range and because of this, the battery has a comprehensive heating/cooling system that steps in during extreme temps and this is part of what kills range. Most EVs these days use a heat pump for the cabin which is quite efficient.
